I got my flu shot this year and thought I was good to go. 2 days ago I got sick as hell. Today is day 3 and being a smoker with pneumonia royally sucks. I know it’s pneumonia because I got it once before about 20 years ago. I’m not going to the doctor unless absolutely necessary. I hate when they lecture me about smoking. I seriously hate hospitals. I’m not going to the hospital unless I’m on deaths door. I’m just going to tough it out.
My lungs were full of fluid when I woke up. Coughing it up felt like a 300 pound man was kicking me in the chest. I’ve got a massive headache from gagging when coughing. I went to bed at 2 pm and slept until 3 am. All night I rolled around in cold sweats. Last time I had pneumonia it scarred my lungs. It showed up in some cat scans I had done.
I don’t need doctors to lecture me on smoking. I’m fully aware of the consequences my mom has lung cancer.
Go get help. Pneumonia is serious business and you need to get help.
You might get some grief but most medical professionals are that. They are professional. It’s serious business and it’s not worth getting complications. Go to emergency if there’s no doctors open but do it now.
I would recommend that you go to the hospital also, or at the very least go to your general practitioner. Pneumonia isn’t something to “tough it out”. It can go from being “okay” to deadly in a short amount of time. I understand that you don’t want the lecture, but it could save you from further scarring on your lungs.
I’m glad you’re going for help. There are different types of pneumonia. Some require antibiotics to get over. You can be in real trouble without them. I hope you’re able to see the doctor right away, if not go to emergency, they will see if you need antibiotics. I hope you get better fast.
