Tomorrow I should start taking it, 5 drops in the morning, Im scared and anxious. I keep thinking that it might ■■■■ me up.
Hope it works out. I’ve never used it.
Best of luck with it.
thank you both.
I’ve been on 30 mg of Haldol for the past three years, and took it at lower doses prior to that (with trials of atypicals in between).
I’m happy with it for the most part - it gets rid of my voices except for once or twice a month when I have breakthrough episodes. It doesn’t affect my paranoia or delusions though.
Side effects I get are extreme sleepiness, constipation, drooling, and insomnia despite the sleepiness. I’ve been struggling with sleeplessness for the past four to five months and intend to address it with my pdoc when I see her in October.
Good luck with it!
I’ve been on 5 mg of Haldol for nearly two years. It erased my paranoia and hallucinations. The only side effect is a shaky right leg (akathisia), which I take Cogentin and Benadryl for. Hope it works well for you, for me it was the only antipsychotic to work.
Didn’t work for me - made me into a zombie. But it all depends on the person individually
@mistery does the convention and benedryl stop the shakiness?
Thanks for the replies guys, I appreciate them.
I just took 6 drops tonight. Hope it goes well
Good luck @marlboro!
Thank you @Vertigo . I am not so anxious about it, I go to sleep anyways in a few hours.
Yes it does stop the shakiness @LilyoftheValley…pretty much entirely
I wonder if it’s affect libido and if I get insomnia
I guess I will see this week
I take it. 75 mg shot. I don’t have any side effects except maybe weight gain.
@Sheryl did you start with the tablets first?
I have been on haldol for 3 months. First 5mg, now 10. I think it is making me more connected to others as I can now think about things other than what the beings are telling me. Sometimes.
That must feel good. I’ve noticed I don’t space out as much in the last hour
Or maybe it’s placebo
Even if it’s a placebo it’s still helping you and that’s good.
I was only on 10mg. It dulled my mind and I was struggling at work to be creative - which I need to be. Everyones experience is different. It’s a typical AP, so the Movement thing is a more likely issue to occur, but they give you counter-meds for that.
