I am diagnosed with schizophrenia and am on haldol and vistaril and klonopin. Doc weaning me off klonopin. Haldol is horrible. Anyone have any side effects also?
I like Haldol it takes a while to adapt. But I think it’s good, low weight gain if any. Very inexpensive. Like with anything you don’t want to take much more than you need.
What’s your side effects?
I take Haldol and latuda. Haldol it makes me tired and I have tremors but the doctor isn’t worried he said he is going to keep me on the med for a while.
I don’t have any side effects with haldol except weight gain
I think with me it was a sugar cravings from Haldol I gave up sugar and my weight came down and cravings went away. It’s hard to give up sugar for awhile but worth it
Haldol made me sleepy
Does it kick in fast at least, I’ve kind of been looking at haldol out of the corner of my eye because my med keeps running out on me. I wanna med which, when I’m feeling bad it kicks in like switching a light off.
I love my Haldol 10 mg it works great for me
I have never taken Haldol pills but I have been injected with Haldol more than once.
I like the way I feel on Haldol, its very similar to risperodone, the AP I’m on now.
First day I was calm, very tired and struggled with everyday chores. Second day severely manic, hyper, losing control, falling down. Panic was unreal! Severe hallucinations. Will this go away? Oh and lower leg swelling.
Give your doc a call and explain those symptoms. He will make a judgement as to whether or not to continue with haldol.
Haldol helped me, it probably cut the voices by 50% and helped with paranoia. But Haldol gives me Akathisia which is why I stopped taking it.
Thank you for your replies. It’s a very scary med. I’m only on 2 mg. BID .
I could call your doctor he might call something else in for you and save you a doctor visit.
I found it terrible stuff. I was on 5mg of haloperidol twice a day. It gave me terrible akathisia, I put on about 3 stone in a matter of weeks and was drooling constantly, and was so sedated it was an effort to move. Horrible stuff. I’ve seen it work wonders for some people, but I couldn’t tolerate it. It sounds like you’re having a pretty bad reaction, I’d speak to your doc as soon as possible, it says on the info leaflet that if you have loss of balance or muscle weakness to contact your doctor asap.
It’s not fun stuff on high doses. I take 2.5mg and it helps me.
What med did your doc prescribe instead of the haldol?
I stopped it myself. Crazy med!
You’ve got to get in touch with your doc asap, so they can put you on something else then. Welcome to the “finding the right meds” scene…
