What’s reassessment?

They go over your case again and you get to submit anymore supporting evidence that you may have, and then if that fails you go to an appeal where it goes to a board of people that are not from PIP.

I have to be honest I’ve been to two pip assessments n both times I didn’t get it n appealed. It’s tough. But since u have a letter from someone too u may get it idk n I don’t knw ur situation too.

Just be quite thorough wen they ask u question is my advice

I have issues expressing myself … So I’m taking my partner he also has better insight from outside more than I do.

I got bloody lucky and got awarded Pip without a medical. I had the CMHT send them a strongly worded letter - listing my past history and my medication. I gave them a years worth of clinic letters as well.

Social Worker just got a phone call to confirm i was Schizophrenic - and it was done. I got put straight into the Support Group.

I hope you get it (fingers crossed)

You should always remember to appeal and have a Welfare Rights Officer with you to fight your case. Never fill these forms in let the professionals do it for you.

Even though I have diagnosis of schizophrenia and epilepsy I had to go to court for mine.

I went mental at the PIP assessors on the phone and withdrew my claim after they said they sent my CPN a form to fill in and didn’t receive it so were going to do a face to face.

A few weeks later I phoned the DWP back and they agreed to re-open the case.

The second time they actually picked up the phone to my CPN, and I got awarded standard rate and mobility standard.

I didn’t agree with what they awarded me points for, as there are things I told them they ignored, and other things they got from my CPN.

All in all it was a mess, but I was told by my parents not to argue with them.

The first time I applied I went to a face to face and got zero points.

You can apply every 6 months and they don’t take the previous attempts into account if you fail this time.

Just don’t give up with it. The system is rubbish, and makes no sense, but we all have to fight it to get what we deserve I’m afraid.

My partner didn’t say anything … Nothing but he said he didn’t say anything becatse he wanted the assessment lady to see I get anxious ,him helping might have eased the anxiety not allowing them to fully see how this illness affects me

Hope it comes through for you @anon80629714 . I applied years ago for the pension out here and took my mother to the interview. It was a lot easier back then but mum did help me. She basically added about my constant sick days etc. I think in the end having someone else there really did help. Good luck.

I probably have an assessment coming up. I think I’ll get it cos I’ll bring a letter with me from my GP surgery.

It’s for change of circumstances

I got awarded PIP without face-to-face medical. High for both rates.

It’s much easier in Canada…I just have to get a recent doctor letter. There’s a lot of forms but most social workers will do it for you. When I was discharged a couple years ago from the hospital they did it all for me. I’m no longer on it, but it’s my choice.

Good Luck

I don’t think people are against reasonable tests to see if a person is disabled enough . However the current system is not fit for purpose.

For me that would require better matching of an assessor in terms of knowledge about a person’s condition .

More weight given to the input of a person’s GP or consultant

A higher level of honesty when it comes to the assessors used

No directives as to acceptable levels of successful claims .

My situation re the mobility component illustrates how dishonest assessors can be . At the assessment , with my brother with me , my brother clearly stated I needed someone physically with me on unfamiliar journeys. The assessor’s report dishonestly said I just needed prompting . No mobility component given .

When they reassessed people with mental health problems re mobility I was told there was not enough new information to change that in my case .

I put in a MR . I was told because I don’t go out much and not very far from home I don’t qualify . The reason I don’t go very far from home? Poor sense of direction and possible agoraphobia .

I just don’t ask to be taken anywhere that’s not to do with appointments and shopping because my stepdaughter does enough driving for me without payment anyway . I’ll occasionally pay for a few bits she gets in the supermarket , and she gets the nectar points from my shopping .

Hence I don’t go anywhere much because I can’t pay my stepdaughter for such journeys without finding it harder to cope financially .

It’s basically a catch 22 situation . That clearly illustrates a fault with the system .
