I filled the form out myself as it didn’t work last time. I hope I get PIP. (Personal Independence payment).
I should be entitled to it. Now I just need a letter from my cpn to confirm my diagnosis and just how much I rely on my mother to help remind me of things I need like meds and food etc.
I hope things go smoothly for you. Worst case, if you get denied, I would ask them what steps you can do to appeal it. Not sure how it is in the UK, in the US sometimes you need to get a lawyer/case worker. Maybe in the UK they have services that can help you facilitate that process.
But… Hopefully you get it without going through that. Just never give up hope.
So long as you got a letter stating that your Sz. I reckon you will be fine. Its seen now as a “chronic and disabling” illness now and has to be treated as such as you are a vulnerbale adult. I would quote a source - but im sure someone will find it. All they did with mine was phone up my social worker to confirm it. Make sure you get your back-pay from when you first phoned to claim as well!
I have never seen my GP for anything sz related. Not too sure how much he could help me with it if I asked him. I only put my pdoc down in the contact section for the assessment.
Good luck. I had to do an interview over here. It was a while ago. I got on benefit in 2004. They don’t use the same criteria now and that sux for new people. I couldn’t work and that really sucked and still they tried to move me to newstart which was way less money.
At the very least you should get standard rate which is £58.70 week , altho i never went for the mobilty, cos i dont really have problems going out, if you do you should get mobilty as well which is an extra £28.70.
Just make it clear on how it affects your day to day living, and let them know that you are a vulnerable adult that relys on your mum. I wish you best of luck. Let the forums know if you get it or not.
