Paranoid schizos with above average IQs

I read an article that said paranoid schizos have an above average IQ usually. Are there any people on the paranoid side of the spectrum to back this up? And how’s that possible when a psychotic episode is suppose to cause brain damage?

Not all paranoid schizophrenics have psychosis? Or have miminal damage?

I used to have a 146 IQ, but paranoid schizophrenia knocked it down to 126.

Any IQ is good enough to experience success in the world. That’s like 1% of the picture, the inspiration part. Persistence and discipline are the other 99%.

i have taken 2 IQ tests in the past few years i think its been one recently within past couple months and scored 119 and 117

the paranoia usually makes people hyperactive and are more likely to get into something and learn farther than most people because we are in the zone as far as trying to know something we are wondering about

I rule of thumb I learned as a contractor: The more moving parts it has, the more often and sooner it will break.

If a genius mind has the wrong information, it could work very hard in a very bad way. That’s a natural fact.

Imagine being told there is a toxic gas in the air, and so you use your genius to work very hard on creating a giant machine that filters the air. But then it turns out that the gas is not actually toxic. So you worked very hard with genius to be moral right, but you were logically wrong the whole time.

That happens all of the time in life.

But imagine if you never thought about what anyone says, and you never thought twice about what those people said about an invisible toxin because you just don’t have a high IQ and don’t think much. No problem. No waste of time. Nothing wrong.

Do you see the pattern?

One of my biggest regrets re. IQ and life in general was to think that skills should be easy to pick up due to having a high IQ (it was measured in the 160’s in elementary, even). So what I ended up doing was avoiding the learning of good skills that take time, like programming, or going to college and attaining a degree, because I didn’t want to wait for success; I wanted to get in on the quick bucks in the “fast lane”.

I had a perfect vision of my abilities that anything that caused even nominal stress would threaten, so I ended up only doing the easiest thing, which was play FPS games habitually, to become a professional gamer.

Idiotic worldview wasted my life, since the time would have passed anyways. Might as well have spent it on something that brings value to the world.

141 in elementary… Para Sz wave wonder what it is now

other people think im smart. yesterday I spent 15 mins looking for my shoes… I was wearing them… so idk…

You might want to read a few more articles and studies on the subject rather than depending on just one article for your information. I’ve heard the claim often that schizophrenics are more creative and intelligent than the general population and I’ve read articles saying this is not true. I’ve read articles backing up both claims.

I have learned that the object of the world is not to raise our IQ’s but to smother them to either make us dependent for their increased sales, vote for them, and/or merely obey.

I have not seen very many people that know how to raise IQ, and raise each other’s IQ’s while preventing anything or anyone from smothering them. In our species this is rare, and usually when I see it, this knowledge and practice is used to smother other IQ’s except for their own in group.

Why are we a species?

Well, we are a species because that is what we are, and what we do is because we are a species.

There seem to be a lot of intelligent people on this forum.

I tested above average before I started medicating with aps, but no idea how far it’s gone down since then. I don’t feel dumber, but you never know with the dunning kruger effect.

That’s what I was telling my mom. I almost feel as if I’m not intelligent enough to be in the same conversation with some these people on here.

I don’t know what my iq is now, but when I was tested in college, after only 1 psychotic break, and my iq was 147. I’m sure it’s much lower now.

Mines 121 now, but I think it was just a little bit higher when I was younger

I don’t think I have a very high IQ. :stuck_out_tongue:

My IQ is not great, but the doctor who ran the tests said my IQ is higher than average for someone with my education etc, he said had I went to school and university it would be a lot higher now

I have never had my IQ tested but I think I am a pretty bright guy and I was/am a paranoid schizophrenic for nearly ten years now.

I don’t think I have gotten dumber but professionally I don’t have the judgement and decision making abilities I used to have before I got sick because my delusions distort my perception of reality. So I can’t work in the same kind of jobs I used to excel at before I got sick.
