Ozempic For Weight Loss?

For us bigger folks, or previously bigger, what are some anecdotal accounts of using Ozempic for weight loss. I’m male, 5’10 and can’t get past 260. I was that weight for a year, until my positive symptoms got worse, and was put back on 4mg of risperidone, in addition to my haldol and caplyta which enabled me to lose close to a hundred pounds. This made me gain 30 pounds in a month, but likely was just water weight, as now, since being off risperidone, I’m back down to 265.

But the ozempic thing is actually a thought by my dad, as he’s on it for diabetes, and wants me to lose weight as well. I’m dieting and exercising as well, mostly focused on portion sizes and no empty calories.

I’m an inch taller than you and same weight. I have Diabetes. I used to be on Metformin but my GP took me off it as I was having issues with my stool… Now I’m on a medication called Jardiance, I only take one pill a day instead of the 4 tablets of Metformin I used to swallow. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

I try to walk a lot and got a mini elliptical machine to train indoors during the winter months. I used to weigh 340 lbs and now 260 lbs.

I was talking with a loved one yesterday that told me her son and daughter in law are on ozempic and it seems to be going well.

You should talk with your dr about it.

Yes, same for me, I was 345, but got down to 260. Before I gained weight till I hit 345, I was 135, anorexic, but the antipsychotic medicine I was on, abilify and risperidone, made me gain 200 pounds in a two years. Though, it’s not all fat, as I was weight lifting during it and got pretty strong. But at this point, I want to go back to 185, and I don’t care much how I get there.

I will, my dad is going to ask him if it’s something he can do.

Yep me too, I was 150 lbs totally ripped back in 2009 but it wasn’t in the cards for me to remain this weight forever. I wanna go down to 220-240 but fitness is not a priority for me anymore. I’ve learned to accept my body the way it is, but I sure do miss my six pack… :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I’m on it. I’ve lost 19kg in weight in about 10 months.

I’m weaning off it currently as it’s expensive. So starting January I will have to exercise as well as continue to eat less.

Yeah, there is some acceptance needed to feel comfortable.

I’m not on Ozempic but i started out on Saxenda (liraglutide) and am currently on Mounjaro (tirzepetide). I’m a 5’3" female and went from 298 lbs to currently 148 lbs, also on Metformin. I have a diabetes diagnosis based on a oral glucose tolerance test but my HbA1c is under 5. I also track my calories and macros with an app and do a lot of walking. I would like to get to 130 so my BMI will fall in the “normal” range as right now it’s still in the “overweight” category, but i also have a lot of loose skin from losing so much weight. My doctor is happy with my weight where it’s at. I was having AP “munchies” with the Zyprexa and was gaining again but hopefully those will go away as i come off of it…

Yeah, I just read how much it costs without insurance. Good thing I’m still on my parents insurance is all I’m going to say.

I wouldn’t trust an experimental drug. Sure it gone past phase 3 trials, but the human body wasn’t designed to tampered with in this way.

Exercise and diet has got to be the way.

Ive recently started ozempic. Im on week 3 of .25mg, this week I will go to .5mg. I havent had any side effects or felt any difference except just not being hungry. I still have some funny gut thing connected to blood sugar maybe? I feel awful sometimes and i dont know why then i eat a ■■■■ load of good quality chocolate and feel amazing and very well!
