Oversleeping/morning sedation help

Ive posted a lot before about how I sleep hours and hours. Like 12 hours is pretty normal, sometimes more. Even when Ive had a a nights sleep it takes me ages to actually get up and do stuff. Its been like this since I started taking AP. I even thought about getting a sleep study done recently because I lose so much time to sleep.

A couple of days in a row this week I skipped my meds and stayed awake a long time, and the two days after I found it much easier to get up and slept more like 8 hours rather than 12 or more.

I could go get an appointment with my GP to discuss, but I think they would just refer me to Pdoc the mental health hospital a who really wasn’t helpful in discussing any such issues. He just seemed to think his job was to give me meds and that was the end. It didnt matter if I put on weight or has issues - I have to take meds as prescribed.

I was just wondering if anyone had any tips or ideas I could do to get up easier.

I sleep 12½h average. Sometimes more.

I don’t have any ideas how to fix it though.

Caffeine helps me sleep less

My olanzapine makes me sleep 10 to 12 hours.

You could also switch to less sedating meds, I found olanzapine to be more sedating than risperidone and Abilify least sedating

I liked Abilify but I got manic on it so I got taken off it. I’m on lurasidone now and while its miles better than quetiapine (which I felt very slow on throughout the day) I still sleep a lot and take a long time to get going.

A trick is to place your alarm away from your bed so you have to get on your feet to cancel it. But it takes willpower from there.

I’m in the same scenario right now. Spending 12 hours in bed has become common.

I’ve been doing so much better on my current combo, which includes Abilify and Seroquel. I rarely sleep more than 8 hours. I do best if I’m rigid about my sleep/wake times.
