My spouse is on it for obesity. Its helping him go down but plateau’d and insurance won’t cover the higher dose.
It’s robbery
Don’t get me started!
(Not the drug, the price)
I have lost 55 lbs on Saxenda. It is a game changer.
Same he lost about 50 so far.
Mounjaro is a game changer for me too
My blood test including blood glucose levels came out excellent and I’ve lost a bunch of weight.
It’s a miracle drug
Around me there’s plenty of people taking the weight loss drugs illegally who are nowhere near being obese or having illness that needs it. Still have no idea where their drug dealers are getting access to it.
A lot of people who have a diagnosis of diabetes have trouble getting these ones because obese patients are prescribed them.
Plus there are side effects like pretty bad gastrointestinal issues that are often not spoken of.
That said, if I ever were to develop diabetes (knock on wood that I never do), I would try one for diabetes I believe if my insurance would even cover one.
It’s funny what money can do
They make appetite manageable. You don’t always have to miserably hungry. I think there is an excellent case for people of normal weight with appetite issues to use these meds.
If someone with normal weight had an appetite issue, I would consider that a medical issue in the first place though.
It’s sensationalism.
I think the cost of being healthier is much lower (better) with reduced risk of diabetes, obesity, and heart and brain problems…just my 2 cents!
What happens to your appetite and weight once you come off the weight loss meds? Thats what im wondering @shutterbug
I need to make an appointment with my doctor. I might as well ask him for something:
Appetite goes way up. Already learned this.
I just hope it doesn’t work like crash diets do?
The last thing anyone here needs is weight gain
Im reluctant to try these weight loss meds until i see long term effects.
Saxenda is not prescribed to diabetics, it is intended for weight loss. People who are taking Ozempic for weight loss should not be, there are other similarly effective meds for them now.
I have questions with these types of meds. Never tried them myself. @shutterbug
But I read that Saxenda was just liraglutide? Which is the active ingredient of the diabetic medication Victoza. Which means that it is prescribed for diabetics you’d be able to say.
Is that how these meds work? Just trying to understand before I decide whether to try them if I develop diabetes in the future.
Saxenda is NOT prescribed for the treatment of diabetes. The literature is quite clear on this. Stop googling crap and talk to a real doctor or pharmacist.
That’s funny Google claims it’s not used for diabetes.
Also what my doctor says. And the pharmacist when I asked. And the literature that comes in the box of Saxenda pens itself.
