Opinions on a 4pm to midnight sleep schedule?

I LOVE the quiet of night. It is so relaxing and really is my peak functioning time.

Problem is my pdoc hates me being on the night shift. He thinks I am doing it to avoid people.

So I am thinking a compromise is to go to bed at 4pm and wake at midnight. This means I get the quiet night time plus also get the vast majority of the standard working day.

It would take me a couple of weeks to switch to this schedule but I am pretty excited about it.

Thoughts?

Sounds good to me. I feel more awake at night than during the day.

Could work might be challenging to get it to stick at first

That’s pretty much the hours I sleep too. I don’t see any problem with it.

I get up at 5am and love the early morning. It’s so quiet and the old boy doesn’t get up till a lot later so I do my thing. I worked afternoon shift for a while years ago and found it hard to go to sleep straight away. For a couple of years I would be seeing the dawn way too much and it does knock you around a bit…

I guess keeping it regular is the key. Shift work is notorious for poor health outcomes so I think it’s an important thing to figure out.

I go to bed 5 pm.

Lately I’ve only been sleeping two hours because of my insomnia.

I typically sleep from 4 am to 1pm honestly keeping it consistent is the more important part I’ve found

I think it’s brilliant if your body accepts it
