Olanzapine dosage?

Hi folks.

For those who take olanzapine, what dosage do you take ? I’ am at 2,5 mg/day. I know its small but even 5 mg/day makes me a bit strange and numb.

I’m on 15 mg. The pdoc recently increased the dose from 10 mg because he thinks I’m paranoid.

@petar_pan , how long have you been on that low dose? Are you diagnosed with schizophrenia?

Hi. I take 200 mg/day of clozapine and was thinking about decreasing the clozapine and increasing the olanzapine. I talk about this with pdoc but I am corious how other people take olanzapine.

Oh right. Sorry, I thought you were just on 2.5mg as monotherapy.

I’ve been on 5mg daily for quite some time but probably will need to go back to 7.5mg with the way the voices have been acting up every now and then

Yes, but 10mg is the minimum dose of olanzapine for schizophrenia.

I thought @petar_pan was just on 2.5mg olanzapine.

I was on 20mg for a couple of years

Put on a massive amount of weight

Struggled to function at work as I would not come to properly until about 11 in the morning

Made me feel like I lost that time

But of course it does different things for different people

I’m on 5 mg and I think i have been told that 2.5 mg primarily works as an antihistamine, and not antipsychotic.

I don’t feel any numbness taking 5 mg olanzapine.

I take 20 mg olanzapine and 1 mg risperidone

Years ago when I was a teenager im pretty sure the pdoc put me on 15mg at night and 10mg in the morning. Every day. I was sooo scattered and tired from that. Would randomly fall asleep in all sorts of places. And drool while I was still awake. Was a nightmare. Glad thats over with! I can’t even take it now if I wanted to. I tried it once or twice a while ago and got really hectic restless leg syndrome. Couldn’t even sit down without it being super uncomfortable. Defeats the purpose of being sedated i reckon.

I take 15mg once a day. I don’t feel the need to take more or less. Idk if you’re also taking clozapine. You just gotta try it out I guess.
