Off my sleep med Promethazine

I decided to finally try and sleep without this med

2 nights so far, and slept from about 10:30pm to 5:30am each night

Hopefully my body has been trained now I have been getting regular sleep for a number of weeks

Stupid thing is I had hay fever last night

Good one. I’m a firm believer in the fewer meds you can cope with, the better.

This has been my goal

I am down to just three meds now, and I was on 9

Managed to get the pdoc to ditch the Depression Dx as well. Super pleased about that

That’s excellent. Hats off to you!

Edit: F’n 9 meds, that’s mind boggling. Well done.

That’s cool, congrats. I remember your thread when you were all happy you found promethazine.

Last night wasn’t that great, but I am going to keep trying for a few more without it

At least I know it works, and can go back to it if needed

Have you had much luck finding anything yet?

After some experimentation I have been sleeping 7-9 hours a night on average, but its taking a cocktail of stuff.

I would try 7.5mg of zopliclone but it would only make me sleep 5 hours, the problem is this drug messes with your sleep architecture so the quality of sleep is poor.

I tried 1000mg of gabapentin one night because it is suppose to improve deep sleep, I slept for 6 hours that night.

I then tried taking both and now sleep 7-9 hours each night, the sleep quality was better but not great.

I then added 100mg of l-theanine and that improved the sleep quality immensely, I feel better when I wake up.

I also take something called “sleepmd” which has melatonin, valerian root, hops and some other sleep herbs.

I’m thinking of adding glycine to improve sleep quality, I heard it improves REM sleep which is very important.

After taking all this stuff at once I am actually sleeping on average 8 hours so I am doing better. The last few nights have been the best in a long time.

Glad you’re doing well without the extra med @Joker.
