Especially noise you can’t explain. Particularly when you go to bed , but not exclusively then .

I’ve been getting this lately. I’m just very on edge lately and all sorts of things are affecting me like that.

You gents inspired me to look up “poltergeist” on Wikipedia. (Hope that’s ok.) It’s the title of a favorite childhood movie of mine. And I get these feelings when I’m alone for days at a time at my house.
Anyway did you know Jung and Freud got into an argument on the validity of these{}y"Noisy Spirits"? Apparently a bookcase made an explosive cracking sound when they were in the same room… and they each had different theories for it.
Science by and large chalks it up to misinterpretation. In that
a lot of poltergeist activity can actually be attributed to inaccurate perception of [natural phenomenon].
Seriously glad I looked this up though it’s a short article and was quite interesting.

When we are trying to decide whether a perceived connection between two events is real or not, we may sometimes end up making false connections or rejecting true ones. Michael Shermer, editor of Skeptic magazine, calls these type I and type II errors respectively, and points out that evolution has favored the type I error (a tendency to believe in false connections).
Yeah I don’t like to hear noises bc I don’t know if I’m hearing them or not real. I get all kinds of things run through my mind

Do you pick up very small noises, such as a small noise coming from a crack on a window or something?
I’m really good at catching very small noises and think it’s psychosis.

That hits the bedtime nail on the head quite well. It does sometimes sound like a noise from the window .
Oh wow! It’s something I hear commonly. I sleep right beneath a window.
If you hear something, it’s worth investigating.

If I hear something I don’t recognize I have to ask others if they heard it too. I don’t always trust that I am actually hearing or seeing accurately

Thank you all. It’s having some effect on my sleeping , but I can compensate during the day to some extent .
