Nicotine withdrawal and mental decline

Have any of you had problems with this? I experienced severe anxiety attacks and some dementia too within 3 weeks of quitting. I am back on tobacco and am finally feeling normal.

did you use any nicotine replacement things such as gum or patches?

Look up breathing techniques for anxiety. As it does the same thing as when you draw and exhale with cigarettes.

I used the e cig, but within the 3 week period I used nothing, and then it started creeping up on me, and then BAM. At that point the e cig only helped mildly until I finally decided to start smoking again last night. Tonight I am finally feeling 100 percent.

Sucks man. The only time I haven’t smoked was due to being in the hospital. My psych says the nicotine is a mood stabilizer. I want to quit and see what it’s like but smoking keeps me going every day. If I leave the house without tobacco about 20 minutes later the cravings are so bad it’s like “yep going home.”

You had a good run there without tobacco. I’m guessing that you’d eventually adjust to the lack of nicotine.

Now that that’s said time to light up.

you said you used nothing at one point, maybe that had an effect

It was gradual and I had no cravings. The only sign was mild anxiety attacks, until one morning I woke up and I had an anxiety attack the whole day. I was confused and did not know the cause until now.

That would freak me out.

It definitely freaked me out. I could only drive my car when I first woke up in the morning and sometimes I could not go outside for a walk.

I am heavily addicted/dependent on tobacco. Have tried so many times to quit but have found it incredibly hard. Don’t even try to quit now.

I hate being addicted to this cancerous substance. I can’t even smoke the e cig and be satisfied. There seems to be no apparent solution, except maybe upping my meds? I don’t know.

Dude is force yourself to stop regardless of what happens in the first few months.

Crazy though how nicotine stabilizes things. Gives a person strength. The problem is when it becomes a distraction too.

I am not satisfied by ecig or nicotine replacement therapy. I think I am addicted to other chemicals in tobacco other than nicotine. In addition I roll my own and use strong tobacco - normal cigarettes don’t even satisfy me now.

I came close to entering myself into a mental institute, the initial anxiety attack that lasted the whole day was that bad. It got better, but it was incredible hell.

If your in a safe environment though. Should be alright if you just stay in for a few days.

Might have been something that only happens once.

It never fully subsided and was a daily occurrence for multiple weeks. It involved more than anxiety, but cognitive decline and confusion.

■■■■ dude. You talk to a doctor?

No, I was too paranoid too. But now that I am at my witts i plan to talk to them and discuss potential strategies.

I don’t know about you, but I only like to talk to mental health workers when I am at my wits. Otherwise it makes me very anxious.

I don’t like talking to them at all.
