So I was addicted to heroin over a decade ago and I quit cold turkey and the withdrawals were hell but I got through it and recovered but I have a hard time quitting smoking, I think for me at least its kind of true nicotine is harder to quit than heroin but the withdrawal is no where near as bad so I don’t know why I have such a hard time quitting smoking
I had to step down to vape from smokes then to nicotine pouches all to stop craving the habit.
I take Bupropion and don’t get cravings to smoke anymore.
I tried buproprion, it reduced cravings by about half but after long term psych med use nothing worked.
Now that im off I still cant quit but ill keep trying. I definately cut down a lot. And get more angry at the fact I do smoke.
This morning I smoked half one then got so angry I literally put my head into a pillow and screamed at the top of my lungs lol.
Will keep trying day by day
I know it doesn’t work for everyone but I got off the smokes with champix. Easiest thing I ever did and didn’t even finish the course. You have to want to stop though with any device.
I have to quit smoking soon for back surgery i have to have. I will just go cold turkey i think as i have done it several times before. I hope that i can quit for good this time though as i worry about my health and quitting smoking would be of benefit. I could try the patches if i find going cold turkey too stressful.
I ask my doctor about champix but they said no it’s not good for a person like me, I tried to replace with vape but I don’t like it so that failed, I’ve still got lozenges left but last time I just got smokes, there’s no easy way for me just the old school way, it’s all or nothing
Im very addicted to chewing tobacco. I havent tried to quit. If i dont have it for a day i get very annoyed and angry at life.
I was a heavy smoker. I am now greater than eight years without a smoke.
Delay, distract, discuss, drink water
It’s Saturday tomorrow that’s the time I always plan to quit because that’s a couple of days free from anything, with inflation and the cost of bills especially the gas bill, I really want to stop so I’ll try again, my biggest problem is always the psychological discomfort
Snus is much more addictive it hits you deeper than cigarettes. I quit cigarettes easily but couldn’t with chewing tobacco
Cigarettes are fun. I like them. Gives you a quick buzz. Chewing tobacco has no real effect on me anymore. I feel like it helps me focus.
Why do you think it has no effect anymore ? I am similar I no longer feel it like before
We all gotta die of something anyways champix no longer available here in uk, vape maybe but tried and failed a few times with vape
Nicotine tolerance is the answer @xdanny
i quit in the psych ward. new people kept coming in and i’d try to be a non smoker to them. it worked in the end. 17 years ago.
used patches and lozenges. 24/7 . for 2 years- kept a button in my mouth for about another 2 years
I managed previously quit on nicotine spray NRT, but got addicted to the spray in the end
planning to quit doesn’t work … you quit when cig’s are in the past
the last cigarette is a myth
Im pėobably the heaviest smoker on thr forum, I smoke 2 packs a day ![]()
i used to smoke 3 (60)
