I have found out that I sleep worse if I have had any nicotine gum, basically nicotine keeps me awake, now I have not had any nicotine gum in many days and I have slept very well. What are your experiences?
I’m nicotine free greater than two years. When I was on the patches from July 3, 2014, until end of August. 2014, they told us to take off the patches to sleep so that we wouldn’t get horrible dreams.
J…
Yeah I got bad dreams on the patches.
Right now I’m on the patches and the gum. It’s been easy to step down with the patch but I haven’t been able to quit the gum totally just go from 5 pieces to 3 pieces. Nicotine is a stimulant but from what I understand it doesn’t stay in your system long. I would recommend giving yourself a 2 hour window. It has never effected me I don’t think. Even when I would smoke I would have one before bed and go to sleep after. For the last 6 weeks I’ve worn the patch for 24 hours. Good luck to you.
I have noticed that one nicotine gum with coffee in the morning is a good way to start the day, but if I have any nicotine in the evening I am often awake without sleeping properly. Now I have not had any nicotine gum for one week and I feel quite good.
-
Body detects an unnatural and potentially dangerous substance being fed into it while you are sleeping
-
Body tells your mind to scare you awake so that you can fix whatever is causing the problem
-
Wacky nightmares ensue
-
You force yourself awake and decide you’ve had enough of that crap and go play some PC games for the rest
of the evening.
Also, if you’re lactose intolerant and eat cheese right before bed
Your stomach will get on the phone to your mind and tell it to piss you off too.
