Pleasantly surprised - doing pretty well on the nicotine patch

I am a heavy smoker/vaper. When I smoked I was on like 40-60 roll ups a day.

I changed to vaping a few years ago but actually think I was getting even more nicotine e that when on tobacco.

Recently I have been trying to get off vaping. I admit I have slipped up and had a few days on the ciggies but have gotten rid of all my tobacco/vape juice.

I had some gum and lozenges which I like. They help. But at the behest of a dear friend I tried a nicotine patch.

It took a few hours to kick in but now I am feel a great benefit from this.

The nicotine urges have reduced a lot. I have taken additional lozenges upon intense craving. But this has only happened once in 9 hours.

I am very very happy with this situation

Good luck ditching nicotine. I quit over a year ago. I hated being addicted.

Nicotine is a horrible addiction for sure. Good work on quitting!

It’s a sucky addiction imo. You just crave it when you are out of it. And it really doesn’t do anything for ya. It’s just annoying.

Yep you end up needing nicotine just to get back to where you once started. Ie fixing just to feel straight on the level

I’m on the same path… I take the lozenges. Any day now I’m gonna drop them and do the patch and then break free completely.

Good luck man…

I wear the patch on my depot days.

Helps me relax.

They help, but remember 2 things;

  1. You’re getting a hit of nicotine every hour.
  2. If U fall asleep with one on, you’re probably gonna have nightmares so watch out for that.

I’m not a big fan of the patches cuz they tend to fall off easily. And I use a good brand.

Washing the area and shaving the hairs help keep in place sometimes.

Anyways, hopefully you’ll decrease the patch dosage and quit altogether.

Good luck !

i never had nightmares, i never had any problems with the patch when i used it, i cut down gradually and then stopped as per the dr’s recommendations,

It worked and the patch always stayed where it was supposed to, i would switch it around so it would be in different areas of my skin each day like my upper right arm then on my thigh or my chest etc, you get the idea

The main thing is that you know it is a problem and you want to stop, i feel that people who are determined will hopefully get there eventually and quit for good, I’m rooting for you

I nearly forgot but i had to do a couple of breathalyser tests to measure i’d not had a smoke, it was a good thing bc i was scared of telling them if I’d failed, it made me want to quit it even more, idk if that’s still a thing but it helped.
