My theme for today: Food!

I got up at 6:30 am today to go to the grocery store and pick up a few items I needed for a couple of recipes I found online.

Once I got up I was still tired so I took a shower and debated whether I should go or skip it. I ended up going and getting the ingredients I needed. I’m not really a morning person but I can see the beauty of getting up early when there are hardly any people out and no traffic and it’s quiet. But I’m still a night person.

Anyways, I ate a good breakfast and puttered around the apartment then I cooked up a batch of homemade apple sauce. Then, I put some dry uncooked pinto beans in a big pot to soak for 8 hours to use later for a Mexican dish I found online that I made once before that I really liked. Then I boiled some eggs and made deviled eggs. I might make a pot of Spanish rice later; I’m not sure about that.

But I have a whole shelf in my kitchen cupboard filled
with 1 or 2 lb. bags of dried uncooked pinto beans, black beans, brown rice, white rice, spaghetti, rotini, dried split peas. I got them from the food pantry and I always avoided using them because I always thought they were too hard or too much trouble to cook. So they built up but I discovered they aren’t hard to make and there are all kinds of delicious recipes to use them in online. I’ll be eating good the rest of this month.

While I’m not fat, I still weigh over 200. Some of that is muscle and I need to keep my muscle, but the fat I can lose, my goal is 170 or 175.

Sounds like you got some good stuff in the pantry @77nick77.
Me and my GF eat dry pasta, rice and beans all the time. Good stuff and there’s a ton of cool recipes online if you want ideas.
Have fun!
