well it’s not just a tea garden anymore, I also included some oregano, marjoram, sage, and thyme.
I also have in containers mint because it spreads. lemon verbena because I have to move it inside for the winter, and catnip because it spreads.
of all of those I can get a cup of tea with the mint, thyme (my favorite) catnip, lemon verbena…and I also heard sage makes an ok tea.
mostly it’s just for show, I don’t drink much herbal tea anymore. next year i’ll put in a little more research into herbs I can grow and maybe make some changes to it.
thanks guys. im not an expert though. im just learning. most of what I do is just make sure to pull weeds, water regularly and will put some fertilizer down a couple times a season. im hoping to be able to get a composter at some point so I can just use compost as fertilizer.
this is like my 5th year tending a garden. at first I liked it, now it’s kind of a chore. but I get fresh salad greens from it. and have some peppers in the summer, and not to mention my tea garden. this is the first year for a tea garden. and the peppers, bell, banana, habanero, and jalapeno.
part of me wants to move back to the city and forget the whole thing.
in years past, I’ve grown kale, lettuce, onions, carrots, turnips, potatoes, sweet potatoes, zucchini, cucumber, and tomatoes, and beet roots. that’s it I think. o also peas. I grew a lot of peas one year, they were really good.
