Let me start by saying WE DO NOT HIT OUR DOG!!! We do NOT abuse her at all!!
Ok, that said. She’s becoming aggressive and we don’t know why. If we’re sitting on the couch and get up, it startles her and she lunges and nips. So far, it’s been warning nips, not actual bites. But it concerns me.
Hmm. Could be any number of things. Best to try and nip it in the bud as best you can. No pun intended. There are videos on YouTube about how to train aggressive dogs. I’m betting it’ll be easier to do now rather than wait to see if she will actually bite. A vet visit is warranted if you think she’s in pain though.
I’ll check out the videos on YouTube. It really doesn’t seem like pain to me. She’s getting startled for some reason. It’s like she has low tolerance for excitement. I try to talk calmly to her (I’m calm in the house anyway but still make an effort) but we all need to be able to get up and move around without having to warn her first. If the videos don’t help I’ll make sure she sees the vet though
@LilyoftheValley maybe she’s losing her eyesight? Some dogs get confused and such as they lose their sight or other things… Take her to the vet to figure it out
She was at a breeders house. The one thing they admitted to doing that was abusive was when driving her to the vet or perspective owners, they would put her in a crate in the trunk and close the trunk. Awful! But they swear they never hit and don’t believe in hitting
