Said “would u like to be diagnosed sz or sza?” I said “I think sza is more fitting for me”
Anyone else have your pdoc let u choose your dx? He also let me choose which antipsychotic I wanted to take. I said abilify and it has worked the best med for me.
i would chose sz less meds
Well I was initially diagnosed sza. Put on tons of different meds. Now it’s just abilify naltrexone klonopin. I think the fact those solve all my issues makes him think I could be sz. But when I came off my abilify for 3-4 days I became very very manic. And I have a long history of depressive episodes. I have lots of emotion I’m not so flat which makes me think I’m not sz and more bi polar ish.
At one point my psychiatrist made me choose between bipolar and Schizoaffective.
At least it seemed this way.
To her they are very similar.
She emphasizes treating symptoms not diagnoses.
Lol, you just gave me an idea. I’m going to ask my psychiatrist if I can choose between my original diagnosis (psychosis-NOS) made by my previous psychiatrist, and my current diagnosis (schizophrenia). My doctor also lets me choose my antipsychotic, so I went with what my previous doctor chose, Abilify.
