My new heart meds cost $686

With my Medicare Part D plan. The doctor insists I take them, but no way at that price. The pharmacist gave me applications to apply to the pharmaceutical companies for free meds. Has anyone qualified for help with the drug companies, and how was it?

$686 out of pocket per month?

That’s right. They are new, patented drugs - Farxiga and Entresto. $686 total copay a month for both.

Wow, that’s a lot @anon54988740 . I hope that you are able to get free meds from pharmaceutical companies.

Thanks @Bowens. I was hoping someone had some experience doing this.

There are other Medicare Part D plans where the maximum monthly copay is $316 a month when you are in the donut hole. It’s $94 a month before then. But I can’t switch Part D plans until January.

Yeah, I know. Obviously I’m on a crappy Part D plan.

Just ask the doc to put you on heart pills that are covered by your plan

Thanks @lovesong @ablue. My pharnacist tried to get my doctor to put me on less expensive alternates, but my doctor wants me on these meds.

That’s very expensive. Hope your heart will be okay.

If you can’t afford these drugs then get some cheaper alternatives.

People with Medicare don’t qualify for those programs. The only hope you have is a Medicare program called Extra Help that is based on your income. Call Medicare to see if you qualify

I’d find a new dr since yours isn’t listening. You need a cheaper alternative. This is exactly why I’m on Haldol. I can afford the generic. I applied to the manufacturer help but they told me since I get Medicare I don’t qualify. I make just over the limit for Extra Help so I don’t get that either

He’s probably paid by the pharmaceutical company to prescribe them

All meds are free in England if on benefits. I’m on Invega injection 150mg. All free.

@bobbilly we’re all aware of what people in the UK get. Your comment is not helpful.
