It is such a good book…will have to get Netflix again when it comes out…have you read it?
What’s it about it sounds catchy. I find Stephen king both attractive and unattractive as a writer…he has distilled something for sure.
I like the dark tower series. But I haven’t watch the adaptation…
@FreeLunch it’s about time travel between a fantasy world and the present time…Jack Sawyer is the time traveller, a young boy.
Ah a nod to mark twain
Didn’t he write that with Peter Straub? I might be wrong.
I read it about 33 years ago I think.
yes he cowrote the Talisman with Peter Straub, they also wrote a sequel.
I’m not excited for it. They tend to mess up his work for films.
I agree.
Stephen King doesn’t translate well to film.
The only time it’s been done super well,
It deviated greatly from the book.
(The Shining)
Yeah I feel that The Shining has so much to do with all the talents involved that while it is important that the story is from Stephen King it’s the far less important than the fact that it was directed by Kubrick
Stephen King is kind of Pastiche in a certain sense am I using that term correctly do people understand why I see it that way then or saccharine
Tommyknockers etc is cool
I just find his work to be lacking of something, a certain depth. Similar to someone like dean koontz for example.
so you don’t probably like “dune” the series on netflix either right @anon4362788 ?
I read the book, but also watched the miniseries because I’ve had a long standing crush on Jimmy Smits.
David Lynch’s Dune is pretty good
The scifi channel did a dune that was terrible
New movie was cool visually but boring af
I liked “the girl who loved Tom Gordon” about a little girl that gets lost in the wilderness…“dreamcatcher” the movie I thought was well done.
Couldn’t agree more.
Super, super boring.
I kept waiting for it to “start” and then realized the film was almost completely over.
Total failure.
David Lynch did well.
Not his best work, obviously, but it stands up.
Yeah I think it’s important for something like Dune which involves an enormous amount of World building to take the time to build a proper sequence of events so that the viewer gets drawn into plot in the film and the new film just didn’t do that David Lynch did that David Lynch’s film successfully delivers a plot I think although it dwindles at the end. It has its problems and could be better but is pretty damn good for what it is.
Definitely has it’s problems,
But it gave us this image burned in our brains:
(I’m not mad about it)
Did you know that sting is a swinger
