Does anyone like Stephen King?

I’m 5 episodes into the TV adaptation of The Outsider. It’s pretty good.

The last Stephen King novel I read was 11.22.63.

Before that, I hadn’t read anything of his past the 90s.

I read half of that book last year. I’d like to watch it. From what I remember the bad guy was in two places at once. At least in the book anyway.

I think The Shining was his best and had the biggest impact on culture.

But I liked his 90s stuff where he was kind of religious,

Like Desperation and The Stand.

I read
“The Stand” and “The Shining” when I was in my early 20’s. Also seen a number of his movies.

I like a lot of his seventies and eighties books.

He really is a talented writer. He helped bring some respectability to horror fiction.

I think “It” might be my favorite of his. It’s hella long, but I view it as a story about friendship.

Funny sidenote there’s a guy who calls Coast to Coast all the time and claims that Stephen King organized a hit on John Lennon.

He called one night while the guest was Chris Foley and Foley was like “Well… He does write very long books… But I’m unsure if I would accuse him of murder.”

LOL!

I also read some other books of him.

Did you read “Hyperion” ? I loved it.

I read The Stand many years ago. Read it in a few days and enjoyed it. I would like to read Pet Cemetry. I have always found the main idea scary. I love the film of The Shining but I understand King didn’t like Kubrick’s adaptation. A British writer who reminds me of King is James Herbert.

I was two books into The Dark Tower series when I stopped, 8 years ago. Waiting for the movies to come out.

Lets not forget he’s also Richard Bachman.

I enjoyed The Regulators from that pen name.

I’ve enjoyed the TV and movie adaptations but I can’t be bothered with the books, life is too short.

Let’s see. Steven King is a very famous writer. I think it is about mystery and fears. How much does a book by Steven King cost? I think they run about $25. I cannot read well.

You can normally get a mass market paperback for less than $10.

The library is always free. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes, the library is free! You can also download an app, called Libby in most US areas, to read free ebooks fron your library.

You set it up by entering your library card number and a passcode which is usually the last 4 numbers of the phone number you signed up for the library card with.

After that, you get books and audiobooks for free that are in your library system. Usually for 14 days.
