My doctor wants me to start clozapine

I think I’m becoming treatment resistant so my doctor has decided that it might be good to start clozapine. She has said either I have to be in the hospital to monitor my levels or I need to come into the hospital more often to make sure that my blood counts are not low. I hallucinate 24/7 which is frustrating and I’m constantly going in and out of psychosis. Maybe it’s time to try out clozapine…and I simply have no choice.

I hope it works out for you. Some people manage to do really well on it

Yeah. Hearing 24/7 voices is too much.

Been there. I feel for you.

Clozapine was THE best med I’ve ever been on! It took away all of my voices and my suicidal ideation as well. My cognition improved so much on it.

I had to stop it cuz it gave me QTc prolongation and tachycardia that was causing me to pass out but i wish i could go back on it.

I think that it’s a great med that might really help you. It’s worth a try…even if you need to visit the hospital initially…the blood tests are a pain at first but after awhile of good tests then you only have to do them once a month. Good luck!

I ended up going into hospital

The doctors tried for years to get me onto it

Apart from chronic constipation that I take 3 different laxatives for, it’s not too bad

Put on about 25 kilos in the first year, but i have pretty much lost all that weight in the second year by eating better and exercising

To be honest, I wish I had said yes to it years ago

Looking at the side effect profile I thought originally it was too close to Olanzapine

That was a mistake

Only other thing was drooling but that also stopped

Clozapine is not that bad. I have been on it for 15 years. Sedation is my only problem. Other than that, it’s a good med.
