Does anyone else out there find music to be a total way to escape the pain and suffering that we sometimes feel?

Have to wonder lately if it’s not just feeding the pain and suffering. Noticed it more when I changed all the radio stations around the house to more easy listening music recently. So less psychotic, less depressing music. Seems to be helping more since I’ve done that.

An emphatic YES. Music gives me that break and outlet I need.
I took up playing piano and guitar last fall. It has helped me a lot.
In fact tonight I’m not feeling great so I am going to play piano and release some of that.

Yes! I often find music to be a good thing to listen to when I am down. It makes me feel better, especially when the lyrics are relatable. A band that I like that has lyrics that really resonate with me is Nine Inch Nails.

I used to make my own music with some software on a daily basis and performed a few times doing so live. Psychosis sadly ‘cured’ me from this habit. Since I was emotionally engaged with the stuff I was making, and these emotions were intensified in psychosis, I got massive amounts of embarrassing intrusive thoughts. These occurred more often whenever I was emotionally engaged with something, I noticed. But especially when making music. This activity I loved so much was completely ruined because my mind consisted almost entirely of ■■■■■■ up sexual intrusive thoughts when engaged with the music.

Music doesn’t help me anymore. I used to compose music but I don’t get anything out of it now. In fact, it just increases heartache rather than alleviate it. What has occurred during the past two years has killed the desire to do anything.

Love that quote as I love to dance to live music. We do that here in San Diego with some of the great local rock n roll bands.
