It’s an older neighbourhood with large lots and very good separation between homes. We won’t have neighbours up in our grill, so to speak. That makes relations much easier. We usually introduce ourselves by dropping off baking.
What I really like is that the house is in a large loop with a park and playground in the centre. I don’t have to look out my window and just see houses. There’s a green space and the irrigation canals through town are just at the end of the block. Ready access to the walking paths.
Yeah moving is a pain in the a–. We recently just move furniture around to get a new dresser for my mom moved in , emptied out her office, did the floors painted, put in a new ceiling light/fan and some other things and it was a giant pain in the rump. I can’t even imagine doing an entire home right now. Sounds exhausting.
It’s a complete house, actually. Appliances are normally included here. They’re all brand new and haven’t been used yet. The only thing not updated inside is the weird, black, seventies stair railing
New place looks nice, and the new kitchen sounds great! Although moving is a giant pain, seems like you’re kind of upgrading, so that’s good. Best of luck with the move!
When my mom was renting back before she moved to CA with me for a couple years, the landlord suddenly sold the place and the new owner bought it for his daughter to play house in like a big girl (she was like nineteen) and he demanded we be out within two weeks. Needless to say that was impossible, so after we took 5-6 weeks to get out he took my mom to court and threw away like 10 grand in legal fees just to harass us and drain our funds. Said something about damage that was already there when we moved in and claimed we caused it.
If there is an afterlife, I get to kick him between the legs when I get there. ■■■■ him.
That is crazy. Are there not protections for renters in that state? A landlord can only evict with two weeks notice here if they can prove you are doing damage. We videoed the entire place when we moved in to protect ourselves.
It’s a mixed bag. We’re really excited about having a deck and a yard for sure. And privacy. Our master bedroom is maybe a bit larger. The kitchen is much larger. The other two upstairs bedrooms are smaller. My daughter will have about 2/3 the bedroom she has now. My family room space will stay about the same size, but we’re taking a hit for storage downstairs. The washrooms are much nicer, the kitchen is twice the size (but with crap cupboard space, and we gain with the dining room and living room.
I am moving too, on March 1. We are downsizing from a 2 bedroom into a 1 bedroom townhouse. Im excited for a fresh start. Ive had some horrendous psychiatric related memories in this place. I know I will take my illnesses with me, but theres hella bad energy in this house, including our two cats dying. Just ready to start new after ten years here.
Good luck with your move! I am definitely going to borrow that idea someone said about videoing the new place.
