Honestly my mom used to be a district manager in property management (she started as a leasing consultant for an apartment complex) so she knows we have at least a month, but he basically said if we werenā€™t out in two weeks heā€™d do whatever he could legally to make our lives harder, which ended up being lying about the condition of the house.

man, itā€™s a mansion !! good for you budā€¦you out do yourself.

Omg I feel for you. Moving is SO stressful.

I started grinding my teeth in my sleep (from stress) last time I movedā€¦

Good luck to you

I grind my gums these daysā€¦

Iā€™m just happy that the place is decent. These past two rentals have been grotty, but we keep moving into very tight rental markets (good employment usually means bad housing options in the same area) and you wind up taking whatever crap is available.

you must make really good money and Iā€™m proud of youā€¦

I am once again trying to weed out unnecessary electronic bits and bobs.

What kind of fresh idiot owns over 30 power bars?

Hi there.

I think I will throw out the old cheap ones Iā€™ve owned since my twenties.

I also have a large box full of power adapters that Iā€™m loath to throw out. I mean, I havenā€™t owned an Acer Chromebook for three years, but how can I possibly part with the four power adapters I have for one?

Gaaaaak.

There are two slowly growing piles. One is electronics recycling and the other is for Goodwill.

Well, itā€™s easy to make a case for keeping power adapters because one adapter can fit a lot of devices so long as:

  1. Adapter and device are matched for voltage.
  2. Current on adapter is same as or higher than device.
  3. Correct plug size/type.
  4. Correct polarity.

I think over a hundred spare adapters might be excessive.

:flushed:

so happy for you although you are struggling right nowā€¦you are tough as a boot so Iā€™m not too worried aboutchaā€¦haha good for you on your beautiful new home.

SQFM has been torn apart yet again. Back down to one automation PC. Taking the opportunity to upgrade the backup to SSDs. These are both actually backup PCs as the normal PCs are already boxed. Looks barren with the processing hardware diasbled. I am missing my blinky lights already.

It looks like hell, but I am making progress.

In the process of sorting and packing the man cave as well.

Yeah Iā€™m like that with adapters. Iā€™m always thinking ā€œwhat if I find something with the same power requirements?ā€ which is ridiculous, yet I still have this big bag of them and connectors that donā€™t connect to anything anymore. Iā€™m a big one for ā€œbut what if Iā€¦ā€ Then with my next move I throw it all out anyway.

We start moving stuff this evening.

Woooohoooo!!!

So far so good. Just for fun, hereā€™s the dashcam footage from Vlad the Impala driving from the new place back to our crapola condo:

The yellowish house with the brown trim on the right at the very start of the video is our new place. As you can see itā€™s in a less crowded, older part of town. Itā€™s next to the irrigation canals that run through town and that feed a lake in town. Large park and lots of walking trails three minutes out my front door. Very nice.

The white van that is crawling along like itā€™s being driven by an old lady is my wife driving ahead of me.

You can see that weā€™re five minutes drive from a high school, a junior high school, an elementary school, the pool, skating rink, and hospital. Good chunk of town.

Notice how cramped the parking lot is in our condos that I pull into at the end? Not gonna miss that.

Okay, hereā€™s a tour of most of the new place. Not huge, but itā€™s nicely renoed (the stair railing is the only obviously old thing left) and it has a huge yard. Weā€™ll just put what we donā€™t need in storage.

I promise to shut up about it for a while after this.
