I brought a cookbook for kids home for my 12 year old. She’s been interested in cooking more this year.
Today she made fruit soup and “kid cocktail”. Both were pretty good, if a little tart. No added white sugar, just a teaspoon of honey in the soup and none in the cocktail.
I was talking to my eldest last noght about how proud I am of my kids. Every one of them, even my mentally disabled child, like to cook. They all seem to have a knack for it.
My 29 year old and 18 year old are able to play with food and create their own recipes like me and my grandmothers ( but not my mom. Poor thing). My eldest son is 16 and can grill like nobody’s business. The 14 and 12 year old are picking it up! I think my 14 yr old is a good food critic.
Oh, the 12 yr old is a girl she’s the last to get into it.
I will say that I am so proud of my 18 yr old. I let her take over Easter dinner. She did so well that I am passing the holiday cooking torch to her. And SHE is one I thought didn’t pay attention or like cooking.
His father is autistic and had extremely sensitive smell and taste. Kiddo inherited that talent (the taste sense, not the autism :)). He really likes to cook. Last time he marinated shrimps, and he obviously felt very mature…mixing stuff…putting a bit of this and a bit of that.
I’d love to see a few recipes. Sounds great. Thanks.
I love that your older teen is doing a whole easter dinner. That is so cool. It is nice to see them mature, I think, and enjoy taking on new responsibilities with pride.
