Melatonin+GABA=Insomnia?

I have no problem using Melatonin for the past few months. However, when i took Melatonin and GABA last night, i had difficulty falling asleep. I only take GABA 2 times a day. Is this too much? Should i stop taking GABA at night?

Pharmacologically, GABA is a neurotransmission inhibitor and should not cause a sleep disturbance. BUT is may be interacting with other meds you’re taking, including the Melatonin, by inhibiting the sedating effects of those medications… including anti-psychotics for sz. I’d go off the stuff for a night or two and see what happens.

Combo works okay for me.

My doctor showed me that some additives in supplements (the “inactive ingredients”) can cause wakefulness, but I can’t remember which they are…

Thanks notmoses. You are right. I stop taking GABA at night. The problem is solved

Too bad it didn’t work for me :sob:

Have you tried L-theanine?

In high doses it’s a hallucinogen

Wow that’s dangerous. Thanks for telling me this.

You’d have to take about 5 or so
