Meds/motivation

when im not on my meds im perky and ready to do stuff, but when im on them im drowsy and i dont feel like doing much does anyone else have this problem?

When I was on Seroquel alone… I was drowsy and out of it a bit too…

the seroquel got cut way back and latuda got added… it’s more mood elevating as well…

So I’m much more level then I used to be.

You might want to see if a bit of med tweak might help you get up and keep going.

thanks man means alot

I hope you check out the med section of the forum…

Lots of discussion about meds that make someone too hyper and too sedated.

It’s takes some time to find that “just right” but when you do… ahhh…

Life can get better.

Good luck…

My doctor and I are cutting back on my antipsychotic - so far so good. I was at 4 mg of Risperdal at one point, down to 3mg - 2.5mg and now 2mg, I will see if I can lower it some more. I notice that I am more alert and on some days have more motivation and energy. I dont suggest that everyone goes down on their meds - this is very individualized and a psychiatrist has to approve. It is always better when one cuts down over a month or more period - sudden changes can cause a lot of problems, one of which is psychosis

im taking 6mg risperidone at the moment and it just makes me drowsy, i want to ask the doctor to change my meds because im pretty sure hes prescribed me meds for beliving others can hear my thoughts, now i know that the belief wont go away even with meds and i know for certain it wont, i just want meds to treat mind chatter

As long as we are on med we are not going to have motivation, if we do maybe a day or an hour and than we are back on couch watching tv

well that sucks

@Mindwhisperer did your motivation get better once you decreased the Risperdal under the 2 mg mark?

yes it did, I have more motivation and energy, but my motivation is much much less than my friends, that don’t take antipsychotic. even on 05.mg Risperdal it can cause lack of motivation. I read a lot in other forums that people take Risperdal not related to psychotic illnesses andthey complain about taking the worst drug on the planet, even when they are taking half milligram.

I have found Geodon to have few side effects.
