I need a second opinion

Before I say this… I’m aware that everyone is different. Ok so, in a month or so I’m meeting with my pdoc to try an antipsychotic that will make me feel more motivated. The ones I had in mind wer seroquel, abilify and geodon… what should I try first and why?

Antipsychotics won’t motivate you at all. That’s not what they are for.

Abilify helps me with motivation, but it’s different for everyone.

They mean one that’ll make them less unmotivated.

just wait for the next gen of antipsychotics.

Seroquel has been a miracle drug for me, but yeah, we don’t all react to meds the same. Good luck in your search!

Vraylar is amazing if you have good insurance. Not everyone likes it but it is a miracle drug for me! Didn’t like any of the other medications I’ve tried so far. I’m hoping to try iti-007 or min-101 when they come out.

Had a horrible time on all three. Now I’m on clozapine. A lot of weight gain and night time drooling but other than that works well. It’s usually a last resort med for treatment resistant sza

Seroquel made me psychotic took it only once and I was really just trying it for sleep that was a hellish night but Latuda does help with my mood. Geodon not so much but it keeps me from being psychotic. I like both of those.

Abilify has a known effect on motivation.
Its just a sz. Com myth that no ap will motivate you.
Abilify I know for sure it has motivation effects, they are probably others ap’s that will do this.

Also, antidepressants like cipralex (the one I take) is making me more productive and motivated to do stuff.

I guess you could take an antidepressant if ap’s don’t work

good luck! I’d say Geodon.

Stims are the only meds that help me with motivation. If I didn’t have them I wouldn’t get anything done.

I’m on Risperdal, Geodon and Seroquel and all three mess with my motivation.

Same here! Vraylar has turned around my life. I can think more clearly and complete tasks and not get so overwhelmed by everything. Plus my delusions are gone. My motivation is a little better, and by that I mean I can do more without feeling too overwhelmed.

Good luck, @Samuelmcc.

Yeah, don’t. I’ve been getting that advice for over two decades. I’d still be a lump in the psych ward if I had taken it. Part of it is medication. Part of it is procrastination. Strongly recommend some workbooks for dealing with the latter. Being active every day is more a matter of developing and maintaining good habits.

Oh, geodon is a good drug, but you have to eat at least 500 calories when you take it. I couldn’t always get myself to eat that much in one sitting.

Seroquel makes me very tired. Geodon keeps me awake. I haven’t tried Abilify. So I’d go with Geodon.

Geodon was my favorite. Made me feel half decent, but the voices started while I was on it

Geodon has been amazing for me, but depending on your insurance it might be too expensive. When I was on Medicaid, it wasn’t covered.

As far as I know, seroquel is cheapest, then abilify, then geodon.

I’m doing great with arpiprazole (Abilify in your country). I have almost the same motivation before psychosis.
