Hi, I’m a newbie here from Hong Kong.
Very frustrated about medication side effects.
I have difficulty waking up with olanzapine and I can’t sleep while taking abilfy alone.
I doubt if there is any medication which does not affect my sleep patterns. Work becomes very difficult when I am on drugs which affect my sleep.

Hi welcome
I take lorazepam to sleep at night. Do you take any benzos?
Hi, welcome to the forum.
I’m on olanzapine too and it makes me sleep a lot. I need to have minimum 9 hours or else I wake up feeling like a zombie.
No. I don’t have any extrapyramidal symptoms, so I don’t take any benzos.
What kind of medicine do you take?

I’m on Invega, Depakine and Anxiar(in my country lorazepam)
Benzos are for sleep. Maybe it helps also with extrapyramidal symptoms
Maybe I am wrong. I meant artane, not benzos.
Is it a common practice to take abilify and sleeping pills together?
Had a lot of issues sleeping but mitzapine (remeron) was a miracle for me taken before trying to get to sleep. Taken in a small amount it really helps for sleep.
Felt like I get deep rem sleep from it and sleep for like 8-9 hrs.
The days I do take it.
My mom takes mirtazapine for anxiety and depression. She sleeps for around 10 hours on this drug.
However, I only have psychosis, but not depression. So I only need to take antipsychotics.
Hope I can take a kind of antipsychotics which gives me minimal side-effects.
Huh interesting, it’s used for depression, but at it lowest dose it can be used for sleep,
Idk pdoc hooked me up with it for sleep.
Like you wake up feeling total rested from it in my case.
Interesting though I knew it was a antidepressant.
Idk you have to look around and do research to find one that may not have the tiredness or staying awake side effects etc. talk to pdoc/google research
Yes, you are right. I need to talk to my psychiatrist.
Most antipsychotics potentially affect sleep. I have to try some of them anyway.
Yes I was on Abilify and sleeping pills together like 2-3 years ago but ask your Dr first
Does anyone take amisulpride here?
Any side effects?
Here are the main side-effects from my medications:
-
They reduce my voices and delusions enough that I have insight into my illness and don’t go around raving like I’m batshit crazy.
-
Because I’m not batshit crazy I’m happily married, have a wonderful daughter, and a career.
-
Also because I’m not batshit crazy I’m a respected member of my community where I volunteer regularly.
-
Finally, not being batshit crazy lets me have fun hobbies that have helped me make new and interesting friends.
The pluses from the medications greatly outweigh the negatives. Don’t let the negative people here talk you out of accepting treatment that can give you your life back.

If you’re already on two APs, and one of them for sleep, then I really doubt that adding another med on top of that for sleep is a good idea. AP, antidepressant, benzo or otherwise. Talk to your psychiatrist. Maybe Abilify isn’t for you.

Abilify was messing with my sleep.
So now I take it in the morning and noon.
I take 60mg abilify
Welcome! I don’t take Abilify but I do think if you just keep taking the other drug you’ll adjust to it over time. How long do you sleep on it? Schizophrenia gets worse without enough sleep. Maybe the sleep you’re getting is a blessing in disguise
