I was taking 10mg of Zyprexa. I stopped taking it about a week before I started Abilify. I had a bad weight gain on Zyprexa and it was making my arthritis hurt worse. Two nights ago I started taking 5mg Abilify. No appetite. Not much arthritis pain, but I’m not sleeping soundly. Maybe 3 or4 hours of snooze. Does this go away with time? Should I tell my pdoc about it tomorrow- Friday- or wait until next week?
Only 5mg? Lowest dose is 10mg, I had insomnia when unmedicated. I think sz without meds causes insomnia bcz of racing thoughts and hallucinations, the body is always high on adrenaline from the scary hallucination and delusions.
While on 25mg Abilify I didn’t have sleep issues but developed bad side effects like multiple addictions and compulsions.

I’m on abilify. I don’t sleep that great. It’s not terrible. But not good either.
They started me on 50mg qutiapine for sleep to go with it. It helps a bit.

Do you take Abilify at night? Normally Abilify is taken in the morning.

Abilify can be activating, might I suggest you take it during the day instead?

I have to add a little Mirtazapine to help me sleep on 10 mg abilify and an very activating Mao inhibitor.
Yes, take abilify in the morning.

Best time to take an AP is at night time, as it can be rather sedating. But that’s from personal experience.

Are you going to 10mg soon? 5mg abilify doesn’t act as an antipsychotic.
He’s starting me low. I guess to see if symptoms return. He said Abilify is more potent than Zyprexa.

Abilify is very activating, it is usually given in morning by shrinks. Yes, it can decrease sleep.
No abilify is not more potent than zyprexa, zyprexa is actually more effective than abilify.
