The only thing I can complain about abilify is it keeps me up all day, I only sleep 2-3 hours per day since starting it

Can you take a sleep inducing med to counteract it? Abilify does tend to stimulate some.

I just received my first dose of Abilify Maintena (The injection) alittle over a week ago and every since I have not been sleeping, I am only getting like 1-2 hours a night if I am lucky… But my doctor recommended Melatonin So I am going to try that tonight for the first time!

When I was on Abilify, I remember that I had trouble sleeping - 4 to 5 hours was the norm.

I’m newly started on Abilify and am having trouble sleeping. I think I was just up all night, maybe dozed a few times. This is the 2-3rd night now. I also take xanax for sleeping but its not doing anything anymore. I’m just a little worried because not sleeping was a big part of my problem while I was psychotic at the beginning of my illness. But I am dx sza, so am also worried this is the beginning of a manic phase. I’m not sure I’ve ever been manic, just am usually depressed. So I don’t know what mania is like to compare this to. I’ve also started to do things during the day. Lots of activities all of a sudden.

Me TOO!! I hate the fact I never get much sleep. Feels like I’m dragging my entire body around thru out the day, but Me and My Pdr. found that amitriptyline help you get sleep at night.
I am on Abilify 30mg and I have trouble sleeping at night. It is the polar opposite of the Seroquel XR I used to take. I think I’m averaging 4-5 hours of sleep a night now. Gotta talk to my pdoc about this.
What time of day do you take it?
They used to give it as a morning med, so I could sleep better on it! Until they turned my lights on on the night rounds.
I take mine first thing in the morning. Last night I took an extra xanax. That helped but will run out of xanax more quickly and insurance only covers so much a month.
