So as of last night i am med free. This was a very slow and gradual process. About 3-5 months ago i was taking 25mg Seroquel and 10 mg of Abilify. It took me about 6 weeks to stop the seroquel and another 3-4 months for Abilify (10, 7.5, 5, 2.5, 1 (just for a short week)mg).
Residual symptoms:
. Insomnia: i wake up once or twice every night and cant get 10h of sleep per night.
. Visual snow + tinnitus.
. Cognitively desorganized.
This is just a thread to remind me when i stopped and keep u updated on my progress or relapse.
I am now trying to ween off my xeplion injection… It’s going pretty well so far though I can’t get real co-operation from my doctor since he is against it… hmm…
I wish u the best of luck. My doctor has never been opposed to the idea of stopping my meds as ive never had florid symptoms. But if things dont go well ill have to restart my meds.
I got off meds before so good luck to you. I honestly don’t like them. My most recent time getting off meds was a disaster and I did a lot of things I’m not proud of. Getting off meds scares the heck out of me.
Good luck! Smart of you to wean off slowly. I cold turkey dropped 10 mg and it sent me into a severe depressive episode and PHP. Had to drop classes. Didn’t realize it also had some mood stabilizing effects
As far as insomnia goes, ive had some good sleep. Not excellent but good. Slept almost 10h last night, woke up just once at 7. Abilify definitely doesnt help with insomnia. Never had a great night sleep when i was on it.
Tinnitus and visual snow. Nothing new.
Cognitively: still not back to my former self.
Positive symptoms: no delusion, no hallucinations. Some rare occurrences of very mild paranoia with excellent insight. Nothing really concerning.
Also regarding negative symptoms, abilify really didnt do much. I feel exactly the same compared to when i was taking low dose abilify (AD). And i feel better than when i was taking 10mg (AP), less sleepy and lethargic.
