Marriage is ther any point?

what are your opinions on marriage. I think its a nice way to ruin a good relationship but then again I may be “DAMAGED”

Good for getting citizenship and health insurance I guess. For love? Perhaps. For entitlement to spouse’s money? Maybe.

it seems my boyfriend wants to get married I don’t want a day I don’t want to live together 24/7 I just want things to stay the same!

I married a borderline sociopath and never had a clue until the divorce - she basically stole from me, cheated on me repeatedly, verbally abused me and was basically a rotten individual.
I am not a big fan of marriage for myself - but I do feel that marriages can work out for others.
I used to romanticize marriage, not any more

It’s been a good five years for us so far… My wife has a bit of a temper but usually can be reasoned with.

It sounds so archaic, but I think a good marriage is really more like an alliance between two families… My dad gets a lot of help from my wife’s family… My brother and I do a lot for my in-laws. It’s a good support network if you can do your part.

On the downside, moneywise both of our familes kind of string us along and treat us as cheap labor frequently. They do it to our nephew too. It’s a lot cheaper and safer to get a family member to work for you than to hire a stranger.

i like the idea of marriage but the reality is wholly different to the rose tinted view. luckily my husband and i got on most of the time…i just fell out of love due to circumstances beyond my control. once the honeymoon period wears off you have to be compatible. my break up was difficult as my husband was still in love and so it was full of recriminations and accusations…but after i moved out we got on great and were best friends. if we could’ve had that type of relationship whilst together without the sexual pressure it would’ve been great…think next time i’ll marry a gay man lol.

I like the idea of marriage. I hope to get married someday. I think it is especially good if you want to have children together.
