Manifestations of Conscience

I notice that a lot of my ideas of reference and delusions seem to be manifestations of my own conscience. For example, I’ll be doing something immoral, and at the same time I’ll overhear someone else’s conversation, and pick out the words “naughty,” or “bad,” and assume the conversation is about me.

When a lot of people describe their voices, they say that the voices tell them they’re stupid or ugly or wrong or whatever the case may be.

Is it possible, or likely, that our ideas of reference, delusions, and voices are manifestations of our own internal compass — manifestations of our perception of self, others and the world around us? A lot of people say that we have lost touch with reality, but maybe our symptoms are projections of our own beliefs and values onto the world around us — a way of grasping reality in different terms.

Is it possible these ideas of reference, delusions and hallucinations have something to teach us about ourselves and our values and beliefs?

I’m not diagnosed so I’m on the outside looking in however I do believe that your theory has merit. Perhaps this thread may be of interest.

I believe… yes.

The way my head circus plays… yes, the voices echo my fears, and magnify that which I don’t want to think about, remember, face…

My voices used to beat me up all the time about being Bi. This used to really upset me and circle round and round in my mind and just make my life full of sorrow… Until I realized… I just might be… if I am… so what?

If I told my family I was Bisexual… they would still love me… I would still have the job I have… I would still live here… nothing in my life would change.

As soon as I accepted that part of myself… quiet beating myself up about this and told my voices… “yeah? So what?” that part of the head circus faded and left me.

They say that auditory hallucinations are due to misidentifying one’s own thoughts as coming from an external source.

Fascinating. “The light never goes out.” Very empowering speech.

If our beliefs about self and the world around us change, then the ideas of reference, delusions and hallucinations can evolve as well, particularly the destructive and frightening aspects of these symptoms.

I think these things teach us more about our inner conflicts.

If people learn to start interpreting the symptoms of schizophrenia from a more analytical viewpoint, as manifestations of inner conflict, struggle or perspective, then maybe the negative aspect of this illness can be turned into a tool of enlightenment. “This is who I am, this is what I believe about myself, others and the world around me, and it manifests itself in ideas of reference or voices in my head.”

If we start treating schizophrenia less as a biological illness and more as a rational reaction to conflict, stress, trauma or inner turmoil, maybe we can begin to heal.

I think their should be psychologists that specialize in schizophrenia only. I told my psychologist this and he said all are exposed to schizophrenia in thier studies and should be able to deal with it. I think my psychologist helped me alot with my voices and feelings. I am currently away in another state now and am starting to miss talking with him.

the negative ones are demons…for me
the positive voices ( though this is only really recent) are the good aliens.
take care

You said" I notice that a lot of MY IDEAS of reference and delusions seem to be manifestations of MY OWN CONSCIOUSNESS"

=What you said is correct 100 %,if you are a person without schizophrenia
-the delusion ideas is a part from your ideas of reference{all in one single basket }

-we have specific area in the brain to storing all types of information (good/bad,real/unreal}
=so that,all types of your ideas are emitted from your own consciousness,whether its real or unreal,actual/false,correct /wrong…etc

=you like any person without sz,he knows real facts about things and knows unreal facts about the same things or other in the same time,wherever the real and unreal facts has been emitted from your own consciousness by action of your free volition, without any internal /external intervention from otherness !

-thus,you can sure that,these ideas are your own ideas not for any otherness ,because you FEEL ALONE inside your own consciousness !!!

-while in the sz case,the schizophrenic has feels that he is NOT ALONE inside himself,within his consciousness and in his mind-brain,because he feels the existence of OTHER within his own self,mind and brain

so that,his own ideas of reference and the ideas of OTHER has been emitted from his own consciousness,but the schizophrenic has the ability to distinguish oneself ideas from the ideas of OTHER !!

=the schizophrenic notice that,the ideas of OTHER causing the deception for his own cultural believes, and religious beliefs , and his understanding to his social relationships with the individuals of his community
=thus,the delusional believes of the schizophrenic has comes as a result of bilateral interaction between the own idea of oneself and the ideas of OTHER,and this action is occurs in his own consciousness {open-ended} in the presence of attention and waking

IN SUM,your statement content is irrelevant the schizophrenia issue,and it is related the state of all human beings without schizophrenia

(OTHER=the imaginary people,the heard voices/hallucination}

Your statement content is irrelevant the issue,and it is
related the temper of all human beings{writers /readers} without schizophrenia !
=if you can not understand,it is possible that you read the sentence from the right to the left,or you read the post from down to up as if it is a chinese writing
=next post,i will improve my handwriting

between us,you seem as a harmonious voice has songs in the air a declamation
or elegy about the schizophrenia,do you know who you are ?

Abat, I agree with what you’ve said. My point in posting this was to dispel notions that schizophrenics have merely lost touch with reality — that there is no meaningful content to hallucinations, delusions or ideas of reference. On the contrary, I think these symptoms have meaningful content, which can be evaluated, and can tell us something about the sufferer’s fears, hopes, dreams, internal conflicts, traumas and conscience. In that sense it shouldn’t be merely covered up or gotten rid of — it’s like a warning signal — but interpreted.

You said"My point in posting this was to dispel notion that schizophrenics
have merely lost touch with reality"
-what you said is correct, because you explain that as " there is no meaningful content to hallucination,delusions or ideas of reference",while these symptoms have meaningful content

but the question;
why there is no meaningful content to the hallucination,delusions,and ideas of reference ?
-the researchers and psychiatrists have wrong notion about the real actual nature of the hallucination and its relation with delusions /ideas of reference

-whatever the meaning of word “delusion”,it is possible that the phenomenon of delusion has occurs for any person"have not sz",by impacts of objectivity causes or personal,but the pattern of these delusion is vary different about the features of delusion in the schizophrenic person,wherever the hallucination is the motor nerve to established the
radical changes in the personal cultural believes and religious beliefs

in other words,the hallucination component has seeks to using ;
1-the personal understanding to the sensual inputs of the environmental stimulus
2- ,personal memories “visual/auditory”,
3-mental perceptions outputs “mental responses”,
4-the personal ideas of reference “cultural+religious +social”
to made-up a state of changes in the personal believes /beliefs,through the intervention between the meaning/concept and connotation of the ideas that has been running in the consciousness area

-this means that,the hallucination component has becomes a main part in the thinking process { bilateral participation}

-thus,the hallucination component has seeks to invent a new connotation for the higher information “the data of inputs and outputs” which has running in the consciousness area

-SO THAT,it is easy to notice that,the schizophrenic person do not lose his cultural/religious or social believes about oneself or any others,but he has a NEW connotations or definitions to his ideas of reference

-the schizophrenic stills keeping his old believes /beliefs ,but in a new look “delusional”,this means that the hallucination component does not seeks to erase the personal believes /beliefs,but has seeks to falsification the personal believes about ID of oneself,ID of otherness,the understanding of the daily life events,external phenomena…etc

In sum,the main goal of the hallucination component ,is to changes the personal ideas of reference {cultural,religious and social } into delusional patterns,wrongly explanation to the external environmental stimulus,daily life events,daily social events,the common phenomena…etc which have negative effects on the personal/general behaviors

there is a different between the way of creating the delusional believes in the schizophrenic person and non-schizophrenic,and any wrongly concept to the real actual nature of the things that so-called hallucination,must be causing wrong understanding to the cause of delusional beliefs/believes in the schizophrenic
