I just had a jury duty summons, luckily the judge called me the Friday before that coming Monday of when I was supposed to report and he said I didn’t have to come in.
I was some how still considered for jury duty despite saying I have schizophrenia. Was kinda bummed as I hoped it was the one good thing about having schizophrenia, no jury duty.

I think it would be fun to be on the right jury, I’d like to do it if I’m stable enough. I can see the stress of it, and could expect myself to go down hill real quickly though.
I’d probably start thinking the defendant was after me, or his life was in my hands, or I was some celestial judge. I could see those happening

I was on a jury for a DUI case. We found her guilty. It was pretty easy. You just listen to the facts and then go into a room with the other jurors and talk it over and vote. Luckily we all agreed. I could see a harder case being a problem though.

I don’t know, I said I had it and tried to lay it on pretty thick that I wouldn’t be able and they still wanted me ha.

See I see that as BS, stress induces my symptoms, and the bustle of everything going on would most likely set me off. They can’t dictate my own symptoms to me.
Most normal people don’t understand how hard it is for us sometimes.
They may ask for a Pdoc note. But it’s not right to put us at risk like that if we aren’t feeling stable enough to handle it.

I agree. In all honesty though I think I am stable enough for jury duty I just didn’t want to do it and thought having schizophrenia listed would disqualify me from it.
I am betting I could have told them in person and got out of it though but I didn’t make it that far in the process.

Did man try to get out of it? Man might be able to permanently get out of jury duty.

In fact the lady I phoned at the court said the same thing - you can get exempted for life

I’m exempt for life, never got a summons for WI, but since I’m on mental health SSDI, it’s logged as invalid. Plus, hubby is a correctional sgt at a prison, so I’m off for that as is he, and the kids will be too. So yeah? We’ve already had a former inmate come after my oldest this summer while he was walking a movie back to Redbox. Gut cornered him in his truck, calling him by our last name. Kalick said he had no idea who he was, or the last name, then told the felin he had a gun and to get the ■■■■ away or he’d blast his ass. Acted like he reached into his coat and badass gonna trap a teenager felin booked it, Kalick got his license plates and went to cops, found out who it was. He’s doing time for threatening a CO’s family and got sent to a higher security prison. Scary ■■■■. Hubby’s boss said that maybe we should look into conceal carry, even me cause I’ve never been involuntarily committed in this state. Seriously thought about it.

It annoyed me slightly as there was no recognition that while it might make some feel less like 2nd class citizens , the thought of having to do jury duty would really stress other people out .
I had to go in for that like 5 years ago. It was soooo boring. U r lucky to get to skip this

I got summoned one time, but I got out because of physical disabilities. That was the only time I’ve been thankful for them.
