Got a jury summons while I was on vacation.
I have been pulled several times, but never selected.
I always thought it was because I was young.
The whole time I’ve been in California I’ve never got a summons.
I don’t want to use excuses to get out of it,
But I don’t want to serve either.
That’s not what I’m worried about.
I HATE government buildings.
Same reason I hate TSA.
They’re invasive and treat you like you’ve done something wrong.

Tell them you are schizophrenic and you’ll get out of it. The one good thing about schizophrenia.
I tried to serve my jury summons, and they told me I was medically excused for the next 2 years. They don’t want SZ jurors.
I said I have schizophrenia on the questionnaire they sent. The question was, is there something we should know about that wouldn’t stop you from serving jury duty? I didn’t want to serve, so I wrote, “I have schizophrenia.” When I called the number to find out what time to be there, the message said my jury duty was served, lol. I never went. I would suggest doing the same thing if you don’t want to serve.
My pdoc made it so i never have to do jury duty due to sza.
I get out of it every time. I don’t know if they’d want someone with schizophrenia or that’s been involuntarily committed like I have to be part of a legal case. Just tell them your diagnosis and see what they say.
I was summoned for the first time, recently, and I just called the number on the letter, told them I have schizoaffective, and then they excused me.
I got a fine because I was summoned but I was overseas. I just did the I have sz routine. I couldn’t serve anyways so it’s the responsible thing to do. Honestly. It would be interesting but I’ve not the concentration for anything involved.
I got picked for 2 trials after my summons, I rather enjoyed it. Was interesting 
So I read the form and under “request to be excused” it asks if I’m “physically or mentally incapable”.
Maybe it’s my pride,
But I have a real problem with telling the government that
I have schizophrenia
I’ve deemed myself incapable.
It’s freaking jury duty, not Navy Seals training.
I am totally capable of it.
And they require a note from your physician.
Absolutely no way.
I’m not going to send in the request and just hope I don’t get picked.
If they ask me straight up if I’m mentally ill,
I’ll tell them.
But I probably won’t have to worry about it and be sent away like most people.

I think you get automatically signed up when you register to vote.

I hope so I think it would be cool to do my civic duty. I vote acquittal!

I’m very against prison time for non violent offenses,
And in the case of violent offenses,
I’m not a maximum sentence fan either.

My father received a summons to possibly serve on jury duty.
I had to let him know he’s 89 years old with physical and cognitive decline.
He is exempt from serving
The court system also prohibits anyone suffering with a psychotic disorder like schizophrenia from serving on a jury
Not my father but certainly applies to me
just tell them you’re sz and they will let you off…what’s the big deal?
