Do you take a magnesium supplement? Which one? What has been your experience like?
I went to pharmacy and wanted to buy but they did not have any packaged ones on the shelf. I got some loose ones from the pharmacist but it is written magnesium citrate and I am reading that that is a laxative. I already took one with meal but I am going to discard the rest.
I really should do some more research and look at magnesium rich foods maybe instead.
I have taken magnesium citrate with no laxative problems. However magnesium can cause stomach upset and dioreah if taken in large doses, maybe with the exception of magnesium glycinate. 400mg is recommended daily allowance. Most people should be ok with this dose, but if you get stomach upset just decrease the dose and find what works for you.
I haven’t studied magnesium extensively, but magnesium glycinate and threonate are said to be best for sleep. Magnesium carbonate is the one to avoid because of poor bioavalibility.
You’ll probably want magnesium oxide, which is the typical type on a store shelf.
I’ve been taking magnesium for about 15 years to help with my restless leg syndrome and it’s great.
My daughter’s doctor also recently put her on daily magnesium to help with her frequent pain. She’s only 6, so trying to avoid using acetaminophen as much as possible.
Idk about magnesium for schizophrenia. Because it is a nmda antagonist. And things like sarcosine are nmda agonists. So basically, it does the opposite of Sarcosine. When I take it, it makes me feel more apathetic and empty.
