Looking for a new medication

Is there a med with the lowest risk of weight gain and/or tardive dyskinesia? I have gained a lot of weight with Abilify.

Wikipedia says haldol and latuda are the lowest risk for weight gain…

Yup… that’s the trade off. I’ve been on Abilify with about 50 lbs weight gain but no tremors yet and the results have been good.

Geodon is weight neutral

Clozapine has a mild effect on weight gain and a low risk of tardive dyskeneisa compared with the other meds, it is also the only med that ever worked for me, I was a non-responder to the other meds.

In my experience, medications like Haldol abd Trilafon (first gen antipsychotics), don’t make you gain weight.
I’ve gained weight on all second-generation antipsychotics, and I’ve been through a bunch.
However, in my experience, second-generation antipsychotics help with anxiety, mood, and depression, whereas first generation do not, so I take two second-generation antypsychotics (Latuda and Clozaril).

My pdoc has me on Rexulti because I had bad weight gain on Zyprexa and Risperidone in the past, I haven’t been on it long enough to see if it’ll change my weight but I don’t have any unusual eating habits from taking it. I’m still managing to lose weight on it for now, we’ll see once she increases my dose.

I’ve only been on Olanzapine and Abilify. In order for my meds to do their job I need a lot of sleep.

I worry about that too… I’ve gained 50 lbs and I’m a diabetic… not good! But Abilify has worked so well for me I hesitate to change.

Latuda has minimal weight gain. Plus it’s not very sedating, but it will make you super dizzy. I would definitely recommend it.
