This is a question that is asked frequently. I think all Aps have some risk of weight gain. Some are more weight gain neutral than others though. A google search for “antipsychotics and comparable weight gain” or something to that effect should yield results. I have found articles many times and posted here, but frankly, I am too lazy to look it up and link one for you atm.

Do you take ap that causes weight gain? How do you deal with it. Have you accepted gaining weight. The only one i can think of that is good for not gaining weight is abilify but i don’t really wanna take abilify. I don’t wanna get restlessness side affect

I actually take abilify. It’s not the only choice though…,I guess I can find a comparison chart for you or article or something

I think Geodon and Seroquel do not cause me weight gain, but I did gain about 40 lbs. from this blood pressure med, but I hated to get off the blood pressure med because it made me feel so good. I don’t know if you have ever experienced this, but every time I woke up from sleep when I was on that med I felt so relaxed and so good - completely relaxed, better than any benzo could do for me. That only happened to me a couple of times when I wasn’t on that med. When I was on it I felt that way when I woke up every time I went to sleep. But I was also eating like a pig and gaining weight, so I had to get off that med.

I gained 20 lbs. on Haldol.

I’m currently on invega and i’m gaining weight on it. I need a different med before i hit 300lb

Geodon latuda and abilify are good for weight. I personally couldnt tolerate them but i lost weight on them

Well, the list is from Webmd crimby. All Aps have a risk of weight gain. Each person is bound to have different experiences on them. These are just the comparative risks…

One time I took 4500 mg of Trazodone, and it did almost nothing to me. I knew a guy who could take any amount of Stellazine, and it did nothing to him. Just a little bit of that stuff makes me totally miserable.

I was looking for my trazadone tn and i couldnt find it. Pisses me off i had like a thousand of those where would i have put them ffs

Abilify might give you enough initiative to work out a little bit, but be careful, it can make you pretty uptight.

I take amisulpride and haloperidol and I don’t think I gained any weight. Not like I did on olanzapine

I’m on Haldol. I lost 100 pounds (45 kg) in one year. It gives me akithisia but benztropine takes care of that. It makes me feel tired though. But I still push through and exercise
