What are the weight neutral AP's

Does anyone know what AP’s are weight neutral? I already tried to change from Risperdal to Latuda and had insomnia. What are the other weight neutral AP’s

Haldol, prolixin, geodon and abilify are the least likely to cause weight gain! But no such thing as a guarantee for “weight neutral”

They “say” abilify is weight neutral but it varies from person to person.

im on geodon and ive gained 15 lbs since i started taking it

a lot of people put weight on naturally as well if they are not exercising enough, its not just the med all the time

@47average - While it’s preferable to remain on a weight neutral medication, I personally don’t focus on wether I will gain a lot of weight with a particular med or not.

I have been on so called weight neutral meds, and they just worsened my symptoms and made me “crazy”.

What is the point of being on a weight neutral medication if it’s not going to help control your symptoms.

I am currently on a medication that has a reputation for making you gain a lot of weight.

I choose to remain on it because it really is the only medication that actually works for me.

Besides its possible to lose weight on weight gaining meds - through being on the lowest most effective dose, calorie control and some form of movement, like 30 minutes of walking everyday.

I would rather be a bit overweight but sane than being skinny and out of my mind.

You can talk to your psychiatrist and find the right treatment plan that will fit your needs.

I have learned over the years that there is no such thing as a weight neutral medication, everyone reacts differently to these meds.

I know people that are maintaining their weight on Zyprexa and I know many people that have gained lots of weight on Abilify (does not have this reputation)

Good luck on finding a med that you can live with

None are truly weight nuetral.haldol, latuda, geodon and abilify cause the least weight gain in that order.

My Risperdal is working ok for me right now except I still have my main delusion. I was just curious. They have wanted to try me on different drugs to try and get rid of my delusion. That’s why they had my try the Latuda. I was just curious what the weight neutral drugs are in case my pdoc brings it up again. I’m actually fine with my delusion but my old pdoc wanted to try and get rid of it. My new pdoc may not think it’s as big of a deal as long as I can function in the real world and I’m not suffering with paranoia.

Geodon, rexulti, haldol, latuda, invega, thorazine, really any first-gen med, abilify has less, the aformentioned do too. Vraylar also…yeah I think that is it.

I am probably missing one or two, but those I am pretty sure of.

Call me crazy but zyprexa is weight neutral for me. Abilify and Risperdal we’re big weight gainers for me.

I lost a lot of weight on Geodon

you are crazy yes :)! I put 50 lbs on zyprexa and it even didn’t increased so much my appetite like for others (in my illness I stop totally eating when I am bad though)… nowadays, I try to control my eating but I find tough to lose a weight now. but I am really low functioning, I doesn’t move at all almost :/.
