I would listen to your doctors and don’t worry about weight gain so much.
Staying mentally stable is more important than some weight gain.
Follow a healthy diet and try to exercise if you are concerned.
I’m pretty sure they all do to a degree, however some do more the others. Zyprexa is probably the worst offender, it can wreak havoc with your blood sugar and give you metabolic syndrome. It had me up to 240 pounds while I was on it but the good news was I worked out alot so it was muscle mass instead of fat, it was practically like steroids. After awhile it made me so ill I couldn’t take it any more so I switched to something else.
I used it for years it came out in 2001. Ever since then I used it off and on because it is true that it causes LESS weight gain than the others. But it made me very restless when I had to take a therapeutic dose of it. I am on latuda now and it isn’t that bad for weight gain it also causes a little restlessness but it works better than geodon in my opinion
Geodon (zeldox in Europe), is the best drug in terms of not gaining weight. Zyprexa is the worst. I have to say though, zyprexa is the best med Ive ever taken, and geodon close to the worst. So I am on zyprexa for the 14th year.
I actually lost 25 pounds while taking Geodon/zeldox. This thread has been the first Ive heard of need for EKG.
But it interfered with my sleep pattern, and I had a lot less symptoms on zyprexa.
İnvega also good for not gaining weight.because it does not get you hungry like wolf.but if you don t caution you can take up to 25-30 kg.so it s up to your regime.i had been take 16kg while on it.
Ziprasidone is the best for this. You may be getting the generic. It is superior to every other antipsychotic In weight loss. Next best is probably haloperidol. Everything other than ziprasidone is likely to cause weight gain.
