doctors cut out all my drinking, not that I used to drink a lot…I only got drunk twice a year before , now nothing…don’t miss it but just because I “can’t” I feel like drinking…nope…not gonna’ do it…

I’ll be 7 years sober in a couple of weeks. Best decision I ever made. Actually it’s one of the only good decisions I’ve ever made.

I stopped enjoying alcohol after my first episode. I didn’t like feeling less “in control”, and alcohol definitely made me feel that way.
That being said, I know it’s pretty common for adults to enjoy it.
I think you can make the adjustment just fine if you weren’t really drinking much before. Good luck

I used to have such an addictive mindset when it came to alcohol and drugs etc. But these days im addicted to reading, music, soul-searching, learning about things i find interesting, among other things.
Somehow since I feel as though ive ‘grown up’ maturity-wise a fair bit, and found better interests, I dont really get a powerful itch to use substances. I still have a few beers on occasion but rarely feel like I need to. And believe me! Ive had some pretty serious issues with addiction in the past. So glad that over time ive been able to let that part of me go for the most part.
Another major aspect of this process of healing has been spiritual pursuits of various kinds. Belief that there’s more to it than we know, no matter how educated or learned we think we are, theres more to discover. And also believing that these paths cannot be achieved through recreational mind-altering substances.
Anyways.. lol.

I still have a drink. I’ve given up sugar, tobbaco and cannabis.
