I went to a dietitian I was told the ketogenic diet is extremely dangerous for people with heart problems they said “if you follow that diet it will cause a heart attack eventually” that’s exactly what they said also “ it can benefit mental health but it’s no cure” this is what a registered dietitian said
Thanks for sharing this info @AwesomeFisherman I know my cardiologist doesn’t prefer the diet because of the high saturated fat and risk of high cholesterol.
Diabetics are allowed carbs in moderation. Complex carbs with a low glycemic index are best and carbs should be consumed with high-fibre foods to help moderate blood sugar.
You need some carbs as a diabetic as it fuels your body. Like shutterbug said they should be high in fiber. Genetics has much to do with it as well.
yeah im just saying most peoples diets are high in carbs and low in fats and yet heart disease has gone way up. she didnt eat a high fat diet yet has heart disease and all the stuff they say is caused by saturated fat.
Being overweight would kill me before the Keto diet ever did.
Dr. Adkin found that you only need 20 grams of carbs per day. Your body can turn protein into glucose(sugar) via gluconeogenesis. Also, crestor and lipator are a major cause of dementia. Cholesterol is not bad…do your own research. There are good fats that lipator blocks what your body needs to get rid of cholesteral, or something along those lines. My sister and me did research on it. Exercise and eat healthy to get rid of excess cholesteral.
im pretty sure these anti cholestorol drugs also cause gallstones. all my family who took them ended up needing their gallbladders removed. the drug dumps cholesterol into the gallbladder and it forms stones. especially if u eat a low fat diet because fat triggers the gallbladder to dump. if u dont eat fat the cholesterol stays in the gallbladder and turns to stones.
A good diet doesn’t stop heart disease if you aren’t active enough. We all spend too much time sitting behind screens now.
that doesnt mean a high carb high sugar diet doesnt cause heart disease. those are two seperate things.
I’m just saying that eating a good diet doesn’t immunize you against heart disease if your idea of activity is reaching past your toes for the TV remote.
Thanks for letting us know @AwesomeFisherman .
OMFG. REALLY???
munches fried chicken dipped in ice cream while reading this thread
What i meant is dont go and have a donuts with 70g carbs and 25g fat. Your body and brain essentially get overloaded because they process them differently. If your going to eat carbs, only eat a little amount of fat with it. If your going to eat fat only eat a little amount of carbs with it. Nowadays you have fast food joints people eat at 3x+ times a week and its common knowledge that fast food is unhealthy…this being one of the big reasons. It makes sense if you would think about it.
No, you said not to eat carbs and fat together at all, which is dumb. Everything in moderation.
BTW, if you paid attention to posting histories you’d have noticed I unprocessed my diet some time ago. You don’t find me at McD’s.
Whistles nervously and slowly moves McD’s bag from today behind back
My dad bought it and brought it home! It’s not my fault!
I wasnt calling you out shutterbug, i was just saying in general. If im not mistaken, insulin spikes trigger the body to store fats right? So people eating high carbs high fats in one meal is a recipe for just that, poor health. Simple carbs with high amounts of fat are killing people. Cheap meals are usually bad meals in the west…just sad to say it. A premade salad costs 4$ at walmart. I can buy 4 ramen packs which have tons more calories and msg for the same price. I hate thinking about it.
