Top Ramen has no nutritional value and contains an excess of salt, too much salt raises blood pressure.
Here’s the thing. Lo-carb and specifically keto and even carnivore leads to some interesting things for mentally ill folk and specifically sz people.
It works. I’ve done a year on it now and the weight loss is amazing early which is so beneficial in itself. It’s not a med replacement and plenty of hacks on the internet will tell you that but ffs. It’s the internet and they probably aren’t sz. 20 % recover from 1st episode psychosis without meds anyways so there’s always differences in outcomes.
There’s a lot of shite around about it. The primary guy Palmer probably stumbled upon it but it doesn’t change the fact the diet can make a huge difference. Yes. lo symptoms but still struggled. Now thriving on it because it’s way less positives and negatives have improved.
Reason most give up on it is because they can’t hack the discipline because it’s a different way of eating but I do my keto. I don’t go overboard on carbs. If your looking to do under 50grams of carbs a day I’m doing the max because carbs are tasty and you lose a lot.
I also don’t go overboard on fat but things like an avocado a day really help and you need to keep up fibre too to keep the digestive juices going.
The thing is that a year later I’m maintaining 23 kgs less than I was and I was still doing exercise religiously before. I was misbehaving and all that but now I’m so much healthier and although I’ve cholesterol and heart pressure issues I’m on meds for that too.
You still have to have some fun and enjoy food. Give up drugs and alcohol you need something so the keto thing to me really has been amazing. It really has…it works so good for weight loss on psych meds and it’s like everything like artificial sugar. Yeah it might give you cancer but poor diet, being overweight and on psych meds probably is doing you in too…
It’s modern health. Weigh up the pros and cons and honestly. A year in I’m thriving on a more lo-carb/ keto lifestyle.
Palmer says that psych disorders are caused by a malfunctioning mitochondria.
He does not say to go off medication unless your under supervision
The Ketogenic diet seems to be a better intervention, then buying suppelements or any other form of treatment.
There is also patients with longstanding sz who got into complete remission using the keto genic diet. due to privacy The names are are not published in the book brain energy.
I tried the keto diet years back, but I got sick of the food. Very bland without sweetener. It was too hard on my taste pallet.
Though best of luck to people trying it, someone’s gotta try it.
Yeah it’s a different way of eating but giving up sugar was so good for my health way before trying the keto. Like it’s hard work but you can still eat well and enjoy food. You really can and it’s not so hard with tracking your macros with software on your phone but the thing is outcomes…
It works for some and it works damned good. It has been a game changer for me and I’m on lowest doses of my psych meds and doing amazing things.
Typically, we like to leave inactive threads alone and just start a new thread instead. This is different than how some forums are run, but we do it this way because it frequently upsets users to have old topics revived when they are no longer relevant. It can also be frustrating to the person who revived the thread when they don’t get a reply, because the original poster is no longer active or no longer finds the topic relevant.
