I went off medication like a year or so ago and I was depressed so I was getting ketamine treatments. The first two were great. They just kept upping the dose. Eventually the ketamine triggered a psychotic break and I’ve been on meds ever since. I’m thinking about suing the ketamine clinic since they obviously gave me way too much ketamine.
It won’t work.
First, it’s likely you signed some papers that said you understood that psychosis is a known risk of using ketamine. I know that ketamine could cause psychosis, which is why, even with this dark depression I’ve been in, I won’t touch it.
Second, you won’t win. It’s almost impossible to prove med malpractice cases. They would argue the ketamine and the break were unrelated, and that the psychosis happened because you were off APs.
I could go into much longer detail here about the whole thing, about what and how exactly you are claiming to be “damaged”, but won’t.
Third, you never want to be known as the person who sues doctors. Once doctors get wind of that, they won’t want to take you on into their practice, out of fear of them being sued.
Unfortunately, you’re just going to have to take your meds and let it go.
I lost over 25 000$ bcz of Abilify induced addictions but I know I won’t win the case against big pharmaceutical companies and at least get my money back. They will say its just my sz. They have the best lawyers and much more money/power than me. I lost my gf bcz of these addictions but also maybe she just left me because I couldn’t work. I read online that Abilify’s induced addictions such as compulsive shopping and hypersexuality broke marriages.
Anyways my gf would have surely left me if I was off Abilify and psychotic.
If you went off APs there is a big chance that this why you became psychotic.
This was a known risk. They would argue informed consent, that you knew, or should have known, the risk involved in going on Abilify, and therefore, you are not entitled to any damages.
Not when I was on it back in 2011. I think these side effects were discovered in 2016.
Well, that would be something that your lawyer would have to find out if you chose to talk to one about a case.
I don’t know how it works in CA, but in the US, you don’t always have to put a lawyer on retainer. You can get one that only gets paid if you win your case.
I’m curious now. Where did you find this info, and how did you know it only first became known in 2016? I did a quick search and couldn’t find anything.
Yeah I signed papers but the doses they were giving me were crazy I mean I was tripping for 45 min after the IV was out.
That’s also known to happen.
If the doses were within therapeutic range, they did nothing wrong.
Thanks!

They warned me of this when I was first took it in 2005.
I think if you were off anti-psychotics maybe thats why you had a psychotic episode? Ketamine treatments were for depression. I dont think it works for schizophrenia.
Im often told people think I have Bipolar but tbh I think its because Abilify works so well for me. I havent had hallucinations or voices for years on end, and I do get mild depression so Abilify helps with depression and possible psychosis.
I stay away from Ketamine, it’s well know to cause psychosis.
You won’t win a lawsuit case.
Take your meds.
You are better off
I took phentermine and it made me delusional but not in a scary way/more like a religious way. But I stopped taking it because I was having conversations with myself non stop…I would really like to try it again because I need to lose weight but I dont know if I should which is worse/being more delusional or being at an unhealthy weight with no energy or motivation.
Who warned you? I wasn’t. The FDA posted the warning in 2016.
The doctor who prescribed it.
It was probably a well known side effect way before they had to put a warning on it.
I was never warned about Abilify I was forced to take it when I was fifteen but 16 years later it seems to be the only medication that I can handle of all the anti-psychotics and anti-depressants. Maybe Abilify actually is the reason I cant take other meds. It has caused weight gain and stuff…
I noticed now my moms on Abilify the binge eating and compulsions stuff. For months at a time she has stayed up all night drinking coffee and chain smokes like one carton a day. She cant stop…I think Abilify made her worse…
But I dont know what I would be like on other meds or off Abilify.
