My urologist referred me to a different dr that administers IV antibiotics. I called the office and they said they took my insurance so I went yesterday to see him. Well today they called and said it turns out they’re not in network with my insurance. Now I’ll have to pay $200 for the visit and they won’t make a deal with me to pay less. I’m on disability and so is my husband. We don’t make that kind of money. I’m so bummed
A monthly payment plan?
Yeah, I’ll have to ask for that
Yes, I almost learned that one the hard way too.
You have to go online to your Medicare advantage website and look for coverage that way.
That’s what I did this morning after I found out. Then after I got a name of an in network dr I called my urologist and asked them to get me the referral and labs sent to the new dr. So frustrating though
Gosh, that’s too bad. Some people don’t realize what a money issue is.
Yeah. I wish they wouldn’t have told me they’re in network
Sorry to hear about your problem. I stick with original Medicare because you can check with medicare.gov to see if the doctor takes it. Most do.
I can’t afford straight Medicare. I have an advantage plan that helps me save costs
Yeah. It’s hard coming up with the deductible each year. I stay with it because my psychiatric care provider doesn’t take Medicare Advantage plans.
That’s tough @mike1. With my plan I don’t have a deductible.
My current psychiatric care provider doesn’t charge me for what Medicare doesn’t pay, like the 20% copay, deductible amount, ect. I was admitted to their program back when I was homeless and was involuntarily committed for psychiatric treatment. Now I think it was a good thing, but at the time I was out of it.
Oh, that’s great! You’re so lucky to not have to pay the 20%!
I had that happen with the rheumatologist. Ended up with a bill over $600 for one visit.
That’s awful! I can’t even imagine!
I know. It’s a good deal. That’s why I don’t want to be discharged from their program.
Oh I’m sorry @LilyoftheValley
Maybe you can pay a little bit at a time.
I hope they discount it for me too since they told me they were in network. I’m waiting for billing to call me back
if it was me, i wouldn’t even pay it.
Here, Baptist Health and the Medical School have payment plans. Baptist Health is somewhat more generous.
